Cookbook: A ritual New Year's salad... or how it all started.

When Gabby started feeding Jack the "ritual New Year's salad" (which, between us, loses all its ritualism if not served with Champagne), I personally had no doubt what kind of salad it was.
What was my surprise when I saw a completely different dish in Mr. Beef's sketches. This is how the discussion arose about what is a more ritualistic and more New Year's salad - "Olivier", also known as "Metropolitan", or the notorious "Herring under a fur coat" (undoubtedly, to preserve ritualism, both dishes are served with chilled Champagne).
Our collective amazement increased even more after our invaluable editor and ideological inspirer, after reviewing the text, suggested that the "ritual New Year's salad" is nothing more than a salad with Dubovick fruits. And we thought about it - after all, there really is something in this. It is unlikely that everything that followed was possible without a drop of magic... well, or a special secret ingredient.
And what do you think: what should be the right "ritual New Year's salad"?
Comments
I think you could slip Dubovick fruit into either salad but that "Herring under a fur coat" is more visually interesting.
