2023-07-06 21:53:04 +0000 UTCOne of the key parts of Ripley's story is that she has, fundamentally, been alone. She's been left to the designs of others partly because she's been alone. Her proximity to other Changlings and to most everyone has been transactional. Not very many have "helped" her until Doc. What happened was that a lot of people "used" her. The change here is that Doc is helping and that Doc refuses to let Ripley be alone. The best way I have to explain it is the difference between saying, "I'll stand near you if you pay me" compared to "here, let me hold your hand." A world apart. And a new thing for Ripley. A new, wondrous thing. What a great beginning to her AU story. That being said - can the lass get a hug, dear creator? She needs one.
