Loved this one sure O’Brien might be why but still
Harmony through Time
2025-04-07 17:09:14 +0000 UTCOn the subject of whether miles’ body jumps forward. All of him jumps but it returns to the starting point exactly so no one else notices his absence. The only reason he sees himself dematerialize at the end of his jump in the e future setting is because he went back to the moment he started.

2025-04-06 21:59:36 +0000 UTCMmm. It sure about the gambling ethics! If you use insider knowledge to win bets, either the house looses, or they put up the rates to cover the loss and every other customer looses (a little) ;-). And other great show, thanks!

2025-03-24 09:25:46 +0000 UTC[Ratings] Robbie: 8. "Despite all its imperfections," Robbie thinks everything in S3e17 worked exceptionally well. Armin: 8.5. Armin says he was highly impressed by the story and its execution, on such a short schedule (one week), and by the humor, the unusual lighting, and the actors' performances especially by Colm Meaney and Alexander Siddiq. Garrett: 8.2. Patreon fans of higher tiers: 7.69. Robbie got the closest to the fans this time. At hearing that the fans gave it a far lower rating than he did, Armin defends his choice by saying it really was the performances and story execution that makes it a valuable episode, from a technical point-of-view. (1:26:00 to 1:28:50)

2025-03-18 10:42:44 +0000 UTCI also loved this section, and hearing them discuss how they think warp works, too. It made my nerdy heart happy 😆

2025-03-18 00:32:16 +0000 UTCThis is why watching Star Trek in the wrong order confuses things. It is established in TNG that Romulans use a singularity to power their ships

2025-03-15 16:52:09 +0000 UTCAbout the whole discussion on the ethics of gambling and time-travel: Doesn’t everyone get their time-travel ethics from Doc Brown? (I mean yes it worked in Back to the Future, but only the villain did it!) I assumed Temporal Mechanics 101 was basically sitting everyone down & making them watch those films.

2025-03-14 22:31:56 +0000 UTCPlease do not use your Time Machine to go back and bet on Georgia football … ever here of Ray Bradbury’s “The Butterfly Effect” and Armin is great on the show but please do not go back and disrupt the making of “City on the Edge of Forever “ … the Citizen Kane of Trek

2025-03-13 19:24:01 +0000 UTCThe hosts are biased towards Armin and they continuously collapse Armin & Quark. Armin takes offense at the way Quark is perceived even though he is supposed to be perceived that way. The character has an arc. I don’t get the sensitivity either.
sgtb99
2025-03-13 19:11:47 +0000 UTCDoes anyone else think Odo’s suspicions of quark are justified? The hosts discussed how they are sick of quark being picked on, but quark has consistently demonstrated to be involved in organised crime - so why shouldn’t Odo keep tabs on him? It’s quarks behaviour that causes the target, not because he’s ferengi.

2025-03-13 11:24:51 +0000 UTCDr. Erin Macdonald could help with the singularity, cloaking, and warp mechanics questions - it would be fun to have her on the podcast sometime!

2025-03-12 15:03:31 +0000 UTCWe need to remember that our hosts are not fans and most do not have the depth of knowledge of canon. It’s all good…we just have to stay mindful about that.

2025-03-12 12:52:31 +0000 UTCI feel like many of the quibbles come from a lack of understanding of the lore. There are some rare occasions where the quibbles highlight a plot hole, but overall, they are just nitpicking to ludicrous degree. I love Armin, but he is the absolute worst culprit. I don’t think it’s cute or funny coming with 100 tiny little complaints every episode, I find it tedious. It’s getting to the point where I feel like I no longer want to listen to these podcasts. Which is a shame because I’ve been waiting a long time for a decent DS9 podcast. I wonder if anyone else feels the same way?

2025-03-12 12:49:42 +0000 UTCFirst “deep space nine” episode to feature the D’Deridex warbird. Not the first ever. It was established in TNG Timescape that they use singularities, and in that episode it also caused time problems

2025-03-12 11:54:01 +0000 UTCNo duplicates here! Miles is THE SAME Miles.

2025-03-12 02:01:37 +0000 UTCI love how the guys are trying to work out how Romulan ships are powered by singularities, and kudos to Robbie for hitting on the right idea that it’s an artificial quantum singularity! I’m not usually good at remembering the technical aspects, but I do remember that this explanation was the famous (& possibly only) line of technobabble they gave to Troi. (Marina Sirtis has pointed out that once Troi got her uniform she also finally got technobabble!)

2025-03-11 19:08:36 +0000 UTCYes, it affects the future that DS9 does not blow up.

2025-03-11 10:46:24 +0000 UTCHe mentions Spock in a watch cap. That’s City. I think they mention Joan Collins. Piece was Chicago like but was an alien planet.

2025-03-11 03:04:43 +0000 UTCI think Armin was thinking of A Piece of the Action which wasn't exactly time travel but was gangsters in Chicago

2025-03-11 02:35:24 +0000 UTCGood episode I thought. The issues they had with the episode were fair for the most part. Main plot hole they identified, why the crew didn't consider the singularity was a Romulan ship given it was orbiting the station and they know what powers their ships, I completely agree with. Do think Armin overthinks the Starfleet/Bajoran thing. After 3 years they are operating as one crew and rightly so.
Andrew McKinley
2025-03-10 21:24:31 +0000 UTCArmin thinks ‘City On The Edge of Forever’ is silly? Blasphemy!!
Brian Beirne
2025-03-10 18:47:09 +0000 UTCRomulan ships are indeed powered by a miniature black hole instead of dilithium. Nothing can escape a black hole but a black hole doesn't automatically suck up anything. If the Sun would instantly turn into a black hole, it would have the same gravity as it has now, only concentrated to a single point, and Earth would continue its current orbit without change. So the Romulans can have a really small black hole contained somehow and it won't eat the ship. I assume the feed it with matter and get energy from the accelerarion of it or something.
