Listening to this podcast episode and just rewatched Little Green Men - I can't wait to listen to the podcasts coverage of that episode 😅

The jumpsuits actually stood out as one of the most accurate predictions. There’s been a shift in law enforcement uniforms from shirt and pants to one piece jumpsuits with tactical vests.

Thank you Mr Wolfe for using the phrase of “people experiencing homelessness” etc instead of saying “homeless people”. It really helps to distinguish that this is something they are dealing with and not their identity. It really hits home that you embody the ideals of Star Trek!

Michael McCann

Depends on your outlook, if you watch the news a lot I'm sure it seems worse. There is an issue with homelessness but there are also charities that help people get back on their feet.

Sarah Berkner

2024? Wow, in real life things seem to have deteriorated much faster than they expected when they wrote this episode.

I love that Robbie reads the historical markers! I take pictures of them and use them in class whenever I can.

“Care more about other people and be willing to sacrifice for them.” RHW Thank you Robert Hewitt Wolfe for writing a spectacular episode! It comes at just the right time for me in the USA. Thank you for the hope that Star Trek always brings. There has never been a wealth gap in the world in human history like what we are dealing with now. I can only move forward being hopeful thinking it will get better though it may have to get worse to get better.

This may be one of my favorite episodes of the podcast! Robert Hewitt Wolfe was a spectacular guest! (Hoping he stuck around for part 2).

Also, for fans of this ep & DFs, you may want to check this out: https://youtu.be/ihhtyKXXCt4?si=vzl_W_MwX4wDMCcs These brothers are doing a fun re-watch and had similar insights, from a slightly different (Aussie) perspective.

M Mamberg

Great discussion, thanks!

It was so great to hear from Robert Hewitt-Wolfe. I always love hearing the writer’s perspective and finding out more about the process of writing the show, especially on episodes with such a clear (and sadly still very relevant) moral message.

Catherine Green

This episode was very prescient. A lot of 1990s shows showed us red flags and stop signs and our society ignored them and here we are…quite tragic.

sgtb99

Robert dropping some major true bombs towards the end of this excellent podcast. Couldn’t agree more!

Loved this DS9 episode and the podcast episode. Random notes: - Historical markers! My husband always wants to stop to read them too - Retinal scans and fingerprint imaging - it didn't strike me that they would have been considered novel when the episode aired, good catch - So... the bubble ship... mumble mumble mumble... magic! I'm all into technobabble but that one completely lost me - My missing scene is also an expansive view from the roof, even before I heard that this was the one everyone voted on - great minds!

Marcy Beard

It's fascinating how to the audience it was the future, to the characters it's the past, and to us it's the present
