I love this idea

So...if that's how shuttles are made would Janeway have ordered "All hands, prepare for fiber week. We need shuttle matter"? And...would this actually be a shittle instead of a shuttle? Is Delta Flyer an advanced shittle or did Tom make sure to procure proper materials? Inquiring minds must know

Why are we still debating if replicator food comes from poop? It was confirmed in Discovery season 3💩🍎 https://youtu.be/q8dHPVkbUSI?si=AO7TQ2PwmBSnfcnt

ArtRobot

Absolutely!!!

ChrisB

I wonder if the vehicle replicator in Star Trek Prodigy was an in-joke to explain Voyager’s never ending shuttle supply😂

Idea: Try out Robbie, Garrett, Terry, and Armin doing in-character banter based on something from the just-reviewed episode. Robbie and Garrett used to do this for the Voyager reviews. It often worked really well as a fun, light close to the podcasts. I just re-listened to Delta Flyers podcast for Voyager "Drone" s5e2. In that episode, Harry Kim had been allowed to cover a night shift on the bridge, acting as captain temporarily. At the end of the podcast, "Tom Paris" congratulated "Harry Kim" for his promotion. Then said he was sorry Harry was demoted again back to ensign. Tom had lobbied Janeway for Harry getting a promotion but was rejected ("she said someone has to be ensign"), and Harry reacted with self-pity. All done excellently. It's kind of improv that Star Trek generally didn't do, as the guys often say in these reviews. Why not put Tom and Harry in the same place as Dax and Quark? What would Tom and Harry have said about the goings-on In the DS9 world? How would Dax and Quark react to them? Not sure if the official timeline matches, but after Voyager returned to the Alpha Quadrant Tom and Harry could easily be privy to news from DS9. Would love to hear this tried (revived from Voyager Delta Flyers podcasts) at some point!

(Prime Directive violation potential) At 10:50, Garrett says this on the original "pitch" for the episode: The original plot "involved a Federation team going to an alien civilization and DEMANDING that they destroy their biogenic weaponry." Would that original plot be a Prime Directive violation? The revised plot, meanwhile, has these two Federation specialists (Bashir and O'Brien) somehow attached to help out, apparently at the aliens' request. But there is no Federation "demand" or coercion involved in the episode as produced. So Michael Piller, if it was he who altered the plot as Garrett also later says, was himself a "believer on the prime directive"! Would an extremist or absolutist believer in the Prime Directive even go so far as to say the aliens were justified in their decision to kill Bashir and O'Brien? I am thinking not. But it does bring up the theme of clashing interests between the Federation and the wishes of a non-Federation alien civilization; who wins? Naturally we want Bashir and O'Brien to survive. But what if the script were altered just slightly back towards the original pitch, in which the "biogenic weapon" were encoded into O'Brien's DNA and any bad actor could later seize him and reactivate the weapons? It gets morally murky, even as we root for O'Brien, the alien civilization's leaders who want to kill him would have a point.
