That’s so true! I hadn’t even thought of all their plastic surgery. Even Gul Ducatt at the end looks Bajoran

🔥♥️ This episode and how incredible-ib-ly well performed is one of my favourites. With the modern comparison I can draw between IDF action In Gaza and West Bank and the stories of Cardasians on Bajor - I am impacted by the story. When Armin shared the info about Harris having to be fed lines because of the make-up I was stunned at his performance STILL being so powerful. And with regards to the one stab at the end - I think it’s because it was a family show and watching anything more is too much for watching. I think. Thank you for the rewatch 🖖🏾

Personally, I don't have a problem with either of the two "bumps" in the episode. For one thing, medical records are regularly used to identify people. Medical records might have DNA, dental records, surgery records, etc. that could have helped identify the person in lock up. I also had no problem with the death. This guy was already very sick with calanora disease. He was probably much more vulnerable to the attack than he would have been if he had been healthy.

In regards to what to share with children about world events - it really depends on the age, temperament, and maturity of the child. I have very sensitive kids and there is a lot I don't tell them about current events. It's just too heavy a load for them to carry now. We homeschool so we learn about history and have conversations in an age-appropriate way, but there is a lot we don't discuss yet and won't until they are ready. It's up to each parent to decide how/when to approach certain topics. Kids can be deeply affected by the hard things of this life and we have to be careful with how to handle that.

I think they didn’t start doing ratings until much later. But you’re right, Robbie did NOT like Jetrel very much! I knew he had a bad memory, but I didn’t think he’d already forgotten the podcast! 🤣

Mary Burch

This podcast just ramped everything up. It’s like the wormhole opening for the first time in front of your eyes. Nana joins and boom! One of the best actresses and characters in trek. It was amazing to have her on with everyone. I hope she comes back for the Kira centric episodes. This was a difficult episode to watch compared to the other times I watched it as world events have brought things top of mind. Amazing episode and amazing podcast!

Mark K

Me too!! I've seen this episode so many times and had never connected that detail before!

Ria

I am so thankful to Garrett for pointing out the note in the script that the Bajorans are wearing their uniforms from the Gallitep labor camp. I recently finished the novel The Women by Kristin Hannah. The ending of the book takes the main character to the original dedication of the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC. It is noted how the majority of vets who turned out for that also dug out and wore their old fatigues from their service. Seeing as veterans from Nam were initially treated so differently from WWII vets, the parallel was striking.

Deborah Moltisanti

The score of 10 Robbie was thinking about was the Neelix episode "Mortal Coil". One small observation: Nana's audio quality was fantastic, probably the best of any guest you've had on the show so far.

Dean Jones

I went back to the Jetrel episode to see what the raings were but I couldn't find them. Maybe they were in a different part of the episode at that time or you hadn't started with numbered ratings yet? Anyway it was clear Robert wasn't enamoured with the episode abd felt both the writing and directing had lots of problems.

Elias Nordling

A great podcast episode for a great DS9 episode! Interesting to hear about Robbie's preconception that DS9 would have episodes with a lot of characters in each one, when I think that of the Trek shows of that era it has by far the most episodes that predominantly focus on a single main cast character. I think it's quite different from Voyager where each episode tended to cover the cast as a whole (and so often the best episodes managed to get everyone involved), instead often rotating through episodes with a deep dive into each member of the main cast (so the best episodes tend to heavily involve only one or two characters).

Fantastic having Nana with you! Please invite her back with Terry! Great episode of Delta Flyers!

IMDB, with 3.7k ratings has this EP tied for 4th highest of the whole series. 9.0

Star Trek takes a microscope to humanity and brilliantly allows us to see the magnificence and sometimes malevolence of humanity. That is why I have been a fan for 58 years. ❤️

ChrisB

Nana to Armin: “What are you, a Cardassian?” 😂😂

Vicky Thompson

Re stabbing scene, maybe the Cardassians heart is in the back? Vital organs can be fatal. Love this episode and grateful Armin mentioned the current events ♥️

Joanne Morton, Positive Energy Artist

Re: Robbie's one critizism of the episode. Cardassians are masterful plastic surgeons and are not afraid to use it for deceits and covert operations. That will come up at other times in the series, and in Voyager, for that matter. Remember, Seska was a cardassian masked as a bajoran. However, unless it was in a late TNG episode too, this is the first time they start to establish this. So, since Odo has plenty of experience with the Cardassians, it makes in-universe sense for him to hit the right track right away, but not necessarily in-episode sense.

Elias Nordling

I love this episode, but not even a hail to Bashir at the end

nicholas Lollar

THRILLED that Nana is here for this excellent episode. Both performances are STELLAR! ❤️👍

ChrisB

The line "Leaving was a political decision", comes back a few times throughout the series. It is an important part of developing the Cardassians as the series continues.
