Honestly? This was just a fairly normal CR appropriate encounter in unfavorable terrain. Syl couldn’t use her elixirs underwater and there was no healer. Despite all that, nobody went down; drowning is a big deal but normally hitting 0 HP is not instant death. 2 members of the party are largely uninjured, one is in a bad way, and one rolled pretty poorly against a strength sapping poison. If Sandara had been here, they could have patched themselves up in a few minutes.
