Poll Winners, Goals for September, and a Bit of an Extra Poll
Added 2023-09-09 02:42:05 +0000 UTCSo, this time around, “Chef’s Choice” won handily the plot bunnies poll, with MonsterGrimmGirls coming a close second and Kyon’s life being suffering an immediate third. The extra chapter or 3k poll has a three-way tie between Chef’s Choice, Periodical Cicadas, and Komachi Points, which basically means that I have to choose between those three, so, however you slice it, that’s another Chef’s Choice.
Thank you, really.
Now, as to what that means…
I honestly thought I had managed to catch up to my missed updates, but I just realized that I owe you all the next chapter of Marvel’s What If #63, the one with Steve Rogers being clueless and Toni Stark being a self-destructive, quasi-suicidal, hedonistic genius.
Yes, I don’t know where I come up with these original concepts for characters that don’t resemble my other cast at all. It’s a mystery to me. Eerie.
But yeah, that’s one of the goals for the month: living up to Victoria Von Doom’s chapter, which, quite honestly, may be one of the best things I’ve written in quite a while, so that won’t be stressful at all.
As to the polls, I think I’m going to aim for another Tales chapter, and I’ll reserve the other choice for further down the line. If I’m too stressed, I’ll add 3k to Periodical Cicadas to make the Halloween season a bit extra. If I find myself with enough time… I think that will mean writing the Megamind one-shot. I did rewatch the movie months ago with writing this in mind, but, well, time waits for no man and all that jazz.
Wow, I’m kind of being a downer, aren’t I? Okay, time to pump up the mood.
The rest of the month means:
More Konosuba! (And soon, now that I have in mind what I want the next chapter to be.)
Getting back on track! (Yes, that means a more predictable schedule. I’ll do my best to get both Wake-up Call and All Right! Fine! I Will Take You! back to their usual updating slots.)
Ginosko’s last hurrah! (A bit of a smutty one-shot/epilogue involving Gin and her recent struggles with not being 24 hours on the clock.)
Puella Monstrum Madoka Moecha! (Sayaka faces karma. Yes, ‘karma’ means Hitomi’s monster dick.)
Kaguya-sama! (Somebody commissioned the plot bunny option a long time ago. Let’s just say that I hope they are in a forgiving mood.)
And…
(Imagine a drum roll here.)
Wordsworth’s ending!
So, yeah. Wordsworth’s commission has ended. There’s just the current arc and a final one to get all my literary references out of the way. This has been… a significant project for me, and I really hope I’ll do it justice with a proper ending. The aim is to get it a weekly slot until it’s over and done with.
Let’s just see how I manage.
Now, these are more or less all of my current goals, but I may shift around a couple of things. Part of which is why I’m about to get you an extra poll to vote for things such as my priorities and a bit of a kerfuffle I find myself in with the Tales series.
Like… what the heck do I do with it?
So, honestly, I love this setting. A couple of the chapters are a bit lackluster, but I find myself liking some of them very, very much. The divination training was incredibly fun to mess around with, and Adrian is once again another one of my snarky characters with too soft an interior.
Thing is, I don’t know if you love it as much as I do.
So, the current plan for the series was to keep writing and developing the world and characters, with the plot jumping around to show both the underlying concepts and Adrian’s particular journey to defeat the current Demon Lord of the setting. I think it makes sense, and I’m looking very much forward to some of the reveals that have been hinted at so far, but maybe you’re kinda tired of me taking a 25k word-long detour to explain why skimpy armor is a thing that works.
Then there’s also the commercial side of things.
I don’t know if posting each individual story on Amazon is the best idea, or if the work would be better as a finished novel. I don’t know if it would make sense to post it elsewhere and leave some chapters as Patreon exclusives, kinda like the current Konosuba model, with each new exclusive meaning more public content. I don’t know if it works better as something to offer for sale or something to get my name out there.
So… thoughts?
As always, other than the poll options, your comments either here or in the Discord are very much appreciated. Please, as those of you who enjoy my writing enough to be here, I value your feedback immensely, and it would make me quite happy to get your side of things.
But I’ll still thank you just for being here, reading, and letting me know that what I do matters.
At least, enough for me to keep pushing forward and trying to better myself.

what the shit
2023-09-10 17:20:40 +0000 UTCI mean, the first time I saw someone subscribe and then unsubscribe mere minutes later, I panicked at how utterly terrible my perks may be for them to do so, but after I got used to the notion, I just take it as a tip. Not everybody can be here for the long haul, as much as I wish otherwise. And yeah, I'd been reposting on other sites (mainly on AO3), and it's been somewhat working, but I stopped doing that during the freakout about my page getting closed down and I've yet to regain the will to do it. I *really* need to get a better grip on my emotions, particularly while writing for the Internet. Those anons on FF.net can be kinda mean... As in, this is a review for All Right! Fine! I Will Take You! of all things: "What a mess of a fanfic. Judging from the previous reviews of this fanfic and the author's own comments, it seems like this fanfic is nothing like an Oregairu fanfic and people pointed this out. It's so OOC. I do not know what kind of "praise" you received from others, but it could not be because this was a "good" Oregairu fanfic. It feels like you wanted to write a story of some sort and decided to use the Oregairu cast as a template. Is it possible you wrote this in the early 2010s? It's as if a sexually frustrated teenager watched season 1 and half of season 2 of Oregairu and then decided he should actually be the protagonist of the series, not Hachiman. People are saying that Hachiman in this fanfic is a "self-insert" and I would agree. If you, the author, are a sexually frustrated teenager then this is definitely a self-insert. If not, then this is just bad porn. Even Oregairu "doujins" have better writing than this writing, and that's saying a lot about how bad this fanfic is. If you want to improve writing fanfics, of any series, it would do you good if you actually learned about the series, the characters, and the settings. Otherwise, all you will end up with is stories featuring familiar characters with unfamiliar personalities. I would advise you to discontinue this fanfic as you are doing a disservice to everyone in the Oregairu fandom, and to yourself and your writing "talent" (and I use that term loosely here). However, if you truly do have a desire and passion to write Oregairu fanfics then read up on all the light novel volumes and read some actual good fanfics. And one more thing, and I cannot stress this enough, these "characters" in this fanfic of yours. They are not Hachiman, Haruno, Isshiki, Yukino, Yuigahama, Shizuka, etcs from Oregairu series. They are characters from whatever you are projecting onto. That is why people are harping on the OOCness. Stop being horny. No one likes a sexfest orgy kind of fanfic, and those that do don't care about the actual series (Oregairu in this case). They only care about cooming. If you want to cater to coomers then you have to say so from the get-go. Don't pretend that this "fanfic" is some incredible masterpiece. It's not. It's even worse than trash. Also, harem sucks. We don't need more harem fanfics."

2023-09-10 17:06:10 +0000 UTCMaybe just make PART of the Tales public? Like, make public the Tales involving Adrian and the "main" plot, while leaving the one-shots as Amazon ebooks and Patreon exclusives for people who want to learn more about the world around it? I'm just spitballing, I have no idea how marketing works. Maybe expand your public library to other adult sites apart from QQ to get more people interested in your Patreon? Are there any other worthwhile adult writting sites other than QQ? I'll admit I don't know much about that. Also, people drop in just for a month? What the fuck, the whole point of joining Patreon is that you want to support the artist in any small way you can, how the fuck is "gaming the system" supposed to do that?!
2023-09-09 11:29:30 +0000 UTCYeah, Amazon is, so far, just a little extra tip. The months I don't get a new book out I may earn about five euros, and the month that I earned the most was €52. On the other hand, some people who discover me buy all of my books at once, so having a bigger catalog is definitely something to aim for. My main concerns with making the series public are that those who bought the books may feel betrayed and that it will be like stealing away one of the extras from the subscribers, but if I keep posting ebooks for free to my subscribers, the people who just drop in for a month are getting an insane deal, as three euros currently get them €33 worth of ebooks aside from the other perks. Not to mention that I would really enjoy getting more feedback on the series, and that's only going to happen if I post it somewhere else or I explode in popularity somehow... Well, food for thought. Thanks for the input!
