littlecamblog - april

Hello! Not sure if this will be more than a one time thing, but I decided to put together a little blog post with some art and updates on my life and work!

Welp, my big year and a half long project is done! All the pages are posted, and as of Friday, the final files for the book are sent off! I'm filled with mixed emotions! Feeling very thankful and happy at the kind response to the comics finale! Feeling overjoyed at the response to this book that still doesn't feel real! Feeling sad that a comic I loved drawing so much is now done! Feeling scared that I now have to stop pretending to be a full time cartoonist, and go find a real job! Lots of things to feel, and it's all a bit overwhelming, so mostly I've just been playing video games while I catch up on sleep. Recently I played A Year of Springs, which I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who likes my work!!

I'm sure many people are hoping to see more matchmaker art soon, and many people have expressed sadness over it ending! I'm sad too, but I feel really happy with how it all wrapped up, and I'm proud that I was able to end it at a point where I could give it my all while still having fun. I'm totally out of ideas, and I don't think I could push myself any harder than I did for this last volume! I would love to see these characters again someday down the line, but I want to let the project be done for now. Right now, even drawing them feels a little like saying goodbye to a friend and then walking the same direction! They won't leave my mind so they'll keep popping up, but at least for now I want to let the ending be the ending!

I'm not even close to announcing a new comic project, but my plan is definitely to take some time to do smaller experimental projects. One thing that's rotating in my mind right now is a queer elden ring fancomic about Ranni the witch. I don't usually do fan stuff, but it would be nice to keep doing comics even when I'm too burnt out to actually write my own thing! I think a small 20 page sketchy fancomic would be a fun thing to do while I recover my energy, and try to start job-hunting again! Did I just say I'm not announcing anything, and then say the thing I'm planning on working on? maybe! But it's something that I know won't interest many of you, so rest assured this is just something I'm thinking about while I recharge for my next actual thing!!!

Alright, that's it for now! Thank you for all your support as always! These past two months it let me live my dream as a full time cartoonist to finish the book! Patreon money isn't enough to live on, but it was enough to stretch out my savings so I could make this book happen without trying to find a retail job at the same time. This week I'll be uploading digital volume 6 for free, with some fun bonus downloads for patrons! Thank you so much!!

Yes!! No accident that I put this together after waking up today to see that dog on twitter lmao. Patreon is also a website that could easily go to hell, but I figure a monthly blogpost is still easier to track down, and less dependant on a rapidly changing algorithm haha

I vote to continue having little blog posts on patreon, especially since it lowers reliance on social media sites.
