My next historical project

Im home! Finally

One of the things I try to do for my patreon subs is tell you guys in advance what Im working on. When I came up with that as a perk it seemed like an easy one to do, but I forgot about ADHD 😆 Apparently I plan way less in advance than I thought I did.

However, big historical builds take time, so I have to start a big historical project basically right after dragoncon to have it ready for the following year.

This year I think I'm going to finally do Mme Pompadour! I did Georgian era gowns the year before the current one, which was intended to be a sort of practice round for doing Rococo as the two share a lot of common structures. (My Georgian gowns were Wonder Woman, Ms. Frizzle, Batman, and a witchy one)

But then... I didn't love my Georgian gowns very much. I couldn't quite place what I didn't like about them until last week when I was browsing my feed and saw someone else's (lovely) Georgian gowns and realized MY HEMLINES ARE WRONG. I'm kind of short so I don't usually worry much about hemlines (most patterns I end up with extra fabric and have to shorten things drastically). But on the Georgian era gowns the underskirt (petticoat) is fashionably short compared to the overskirt (perhaps to show off the cute shoes of the era?).

SO ANYWAY my interest in doing rococo has been rekindled

And I have a $150 silkbaron gift card I've been hoarding, plus $100 in joanns gift cards that arrived while I was away this month, which is a good start on covering the costs of the materials (sadly it probably won't cover them all, Rococo is NOT a cheap time period).

To do the outfit in the painting, I'll need:
Wig
Shoes
Skirt supports (panniers /side hoops )
Stays (i.e. a rococo corset)
Chemise
Historical pocket
Petticoat (maybe a couple)
Silk Dress (13 yards for petticoat and gown is about $325, oof)
One billion tiny pink bows (made of ribbon)

So that's my plan, vaguely. Plus in the next year I want to make/put together
- a better scarlet witch
- a predator outfit (as in Aliens v)
- Indiana Jones (I have the whip!)
- Harry dresden
redo Lady D because I get so many damn requests for it but my 2021 version is gone
- maybe do Jessica rabbit idk
