Secret Project: Gotherella

Last year one of my best costumes was Beast-Hunter Belle: A Feminist Princess. I liked it so much that I really want to do subverted versions of other princesses, but its taken me a while to work the idea out.
I don't want to do something depressing or negative - even though there's a lot of opportunity for that in any reimagining of the princess mythos. So I've had a lot of ideas that I shot down myself as being too depressing. I want something triumphant - a costume that gives the princess a way to reclaim her agency and be her own protagonist.
There's a great poster from the first Wonder Woman movie that reads "She needed a hero - so she became one."
THAT'S what I want from my princess costumes. That feeling.
So anyway, I'm reimagining Cinderella's iconic dress as a gothic coronation gown.
Cinderella, more than any other princess tale, is a story about an outfit. So it has to be the outfit that gets reclaimed.
And what better way to reclaim a ball gown than to give it a spooky makeover?
Once I started working on this concept i got super excited because I discovered that Cinderella has a ton of details that work really well with the goth aesthetic: choker, pumpkins, headband, mice...
And for the glass slippers? Ill be wearing my holographic Demonia boots.
