"I’ve mentioned before how I’ve had trouble with coaxing players to rest. You have to watch these guys: They will do everything they can to escape the finely crafted rails you’ve put them on. ~Shamus"

The funniest bit about this particular comic was how accurate to how Shamus ran his own campaign. He crafted the story beautifully, complete with hand drawn maps, mood lighting, music (impressive for a first time DM who hadn't actually played ever (he used to watch kids play in school but never joined)). This was literally his first campaign and honestly, it would have been a better novel. No, I never told him that, but seriously, it should have been a book rather than a campaign. It was wordy and story driven, and completely the opposite of what most of the party (which I was also a part but not consistently due to parental duties) expected or even wanted to play.

They wanted to get drunk, woo whatever being that might be amenable, buy stuff in every tiny town, kill everything that moved, including at times fellow players, and get on with the action. His campaign was the opposite of that. We went whole days without encountering much of anything except the occasional kobod. His write up of the campaign was way more exciting than the actual game, especially as we also had onboard the stereotypical rules guy, who would spend an hour arguing stats and rules while the rest of us tried to get him to stop. Mech warrior might have been a good match for him.

I still work "This is a very specific level of tired" into conversations.
