[Art Tips] How To Draw Humans

1. Pose!

This step should go pretty quickly. This is basically just where Ifigure out what wayI want my person to be standing/sitting/laying. The only thing I really kind of think about is how I want the head in proportion to the rest of the body. Even then, it's fine if it's not quite right You'll be changing it in the next step!

2. Proportion

This is where you should spend some time figuring out your proportions. You want to make sure you get it right here, because it's annoying to when your halfway deep in the lighting phase and you realize your shoulders are screwed up or something. Begin thinking about where your main facial features will be as well.

Tips:

-shoulder space on each side of the head should be at least half the size of the head but not more than a full head on each side
-Humans are 7 to 8 heads tall
-3 and a half heads from the top of the head to the bottom of pelvic floor
-elbow should begin under the ribcage
-tips of fingers should reach the middle of the thigh
-Hand should be the size of the face from tip of fingers to the palm
-Males have broader shoulders than females, and females have wider hips than males

3. Profit!?

So here's where the magic happens. You'll put your details here as far as appearance. Get the face correct and if there are any last minute proportional corrections to make, get it done here. (use the horizontal flip to help! and make sure you zoom out while you work) It will really suck to do later(though I always end up making proportional corrections later anyway). The way I draw doesn't depend on heavy linework in the beginning so I just get the basic details done here, and worry about finer ones later. Worry more about the basic shape of the hair and the eyes.

Tips:
-Beginning of the nose starts in the middle of the eyes along with the top of the ears.

Now you can draw a human. Next tip will be on coloring!
