Now on with this post: the Virulent Strain necklace, a relic recovered by the Aasimar order following a surpriingly widespread plague in the south of Hucricium.

Lore

The Virulent Strain necklace has its roots in a dark chapter of Hucricium's history. It was discovered in the aftermath of a devastating plague that struck the southern territories several decades ago. The origin of the necklace is unclear; some argue it was a product of the plague, perhaps created to harness its destructive power, while others believe it may have been a contributing factor to the outbreak itself.

The Aasimar Order, a group dedicated to combating such diseases and disasters, found the necklace while searching through the remnants of the plague-ravaged lands. Recognizing the danger it posed, they took the Virulent Strain and similar items into their custody to prevent further catastrophe. The necklace now resides within the secure confines of the Aasimar's capital, Arxunitus within the city of Allmast, where it is kept under strict watch to prevent its malevolent power from being unleashed again. Despite being locked away, the Virulent Strain remains a potent item. The Aasimar Order's continued vigilance serves as a barrier between the past horrors and the potential for future outbreaks.

The Necklace

Infected Wounds (Passive): The wearer can inflict a plague upon their enemies, causing lingering necrotic damage and weakening their adversaries over time.

Weakening Disease (Passive): Those afflicted by the necklace's curse experience a weakening of their defenses, making them more vulnerable to attacks.

Virulent Spread (1/Reaction): If a cursed foe perishes, the wearer has the power to transfer the plague to a new target, propagating the cycle of decay.
