**NEWS** PAY 'F' FOR RESPECTS TO MY GPU

UPDATE

I have now had the retailer confirm the card was faulty and unrepairable, with no stock they have issued me a full refund which is more than fair after 8 months. I have sourced a cheaper RTX 5080 as a replacement, so there will be no impact on content being filmed or released on all platforms 😎

I am now dealing with a DEAD Asus STRIX 4090 Graphics card (GPU) that I purchased 8 months ago which means my main RIG/System is down at present, currently trying to source another GPU likely a 5080 but they are way overpriced with low availability. This means all youtube uploads are suspended for a few days.

However, do not fear, all Patreon content is already uploaded and can still be released on time so there will be no delays on content availability. Now i just have to someone find an extra £1400 for another card while this one is RMA's back to the retailer hopefully for repair or replacement. i wont get back what I have as they are no longer made and i bought the premium brand at a premium price. That's what you get for having something nice i guess.

This also means there will be NO LIVE Streams as planned till further noticed. So sorry guys, totally gutted and unexpected, these things at their price should last at least 5-7 yrs. this bit the dust in 8 months! 😥😮

Comments

it is, just gonna depend on if its repairable or not

the asus cards are not cheap either, surely after only 8 months your warranty is still good?

yeah ive been reading a lot of similar issues over on reddit as im a member. seems this could be a manufacuring defect from new. Not even a response from them yet, it takes days when you submit a ticket

https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-graphics-cards/4090-strix-rog-very-high-gpu-hot-spot-temp/td-p/988235 might not be the problem but maybe worth looking into if you haven't already but a lot of people are saying not just on this thread but it could be to do with dried thermal paste. (I'm not much of a compute guy myself so I'm not 100% sure. anyways hope you can fix the solution or don't have any trouble sourcing a new one.

they arent made anymore especially the White version i had to match my build.. the newer 5090's version is almost £3000, they aint gonna offer that even though its supposed to be a like for like performance replacement if no repair is possible

GreyWolf TV

damn that sucks hopefully you can get it repaired cause that will be a bitch to buy brand new.

RobTheBlob

yes its a 3yr warranty but they go to the retailer not the vendor, and its likely its probably not repairable, its overheats within seconds to over 100C. They are supposed to replace like for like performance or better in such cases, but to do that they'll have to supply its newer counterpart (a 5090) which i dont see them offering as they are almost £3000

GreyWolf TV

8 months! That sucks, was there any kind of warranty on it with it being so quick a failure?
