Scott Grimes is a great singer. He is also the voice of Steve on American Dad. He does a lot of singing on that show.

Fun Fact 2: Seth Macfarlane never really wanted this show to be a spoof. He kinda was forced by Fox to write a lot of comedy into these episodes, because they feared they could get into legal trouble with paramount, because of all the similarities to Star Trek. I think after one and a half seasons they had the courage (and budget 😉) to make the show just as they intended it to be.

Fun fact: Yes, that was Scott Grimes (Gordon Malloy), singing all by himself. He is an awesome singer and musician. He's also a regular voiceactor on Seth MacFarlanes "American Dad", and he sings a lot there. He's the voice of Steve Smith. But I'm impressed in general, by all the music on the show.

So hard to wait a week for the next episode reaction. Don't wanna forshadow too much, but it's not just the best episode so far, it's a general shift in quality and pretty much shows the new standard quality for the rest of the series. This twist in particular left me with my mouth wide open. I enjoyed the comical, lighthearted character building episodes, and didn't expect the show to become so dark and serious all of a sudden. But I liked and appreciated what they did here. And it really hits different, just BECAUSE of the lightthearted buildup they did before. Brilliant writing. Surprisingly brilliant. And yes, I think it's exactly how it was intended to be, from the beginning. They knew what they were doing. No, it's not that they come up with new ideas or stories that never have been told before, but their approach is so fresh, engaging and different to me. I enjoy it. They really challenge you intellectually AND emotionally, viewing familiar stories from an unfamiliar angle. Even better than Star Trek does (just my few cents, I'm a Trekkie since childhood). Have fun with part 2.....
