Luke's point wasn't that the violin was old. It was holding on to the idea of art and culture moving humanity forward during a "war" (walkers, like the Neanderthal) against what appears to be a never ending and unbeatable enemy. His point was it takes more than just fighting to grow and move forward. Culture is important. It's what civilizations were built around. His point and view was spot on
