If Hershel just had a cough and Carol opted to put him down instead of giving him a chance and waiting it out to be sure... we'd all be angry as hell and ready to burn her at the stake. I wish the show writers would've chosen a main character for this little plot because I don't feel like the severity of what she did is felt by most people.
