In the end Levi is seeing Annie attack scouts again but this time he sits back because now he knows the full picture in Annie's case she has shown remorse unlike Zeke. We can't apply the same contextual sense of judgment that we applied back in season 1 to Annie killing the scouts and Levi realizes that. She even admits the next episode that she hates killing the people here, which is a callback to her hating killing Levi's

2024-11-18 20:06:34 +0000 UTCFYI you actually have seen Daz and Samuel before. Samuel was the one Sasha saved with her ODM gear in 1x04 when the colossal titan broke the wall the 2nd time. And Daz was the soldier that was breaking down and wanted to leave right before Pixis gave his epic speech. They may have only had a few moments on screen but they arent just random NPCs to be killed. Super sad, especially since Coney has to kill a friend that Sasha saved so many years ago.

If you guys don't remember, (I didn't on my first watch through) Samuel and Daz were both part of the 104th Cadet Corp going back to S1E3. When the Colossal Titan appears at the very end of S1E4 after 5 years, prompting "The Struggle for Trost" arc, Connie notices that Samuel is unconscious and falling from the top of the wall after being blasted by the Colossal Titan's explosion. Sasha sprints down the side of the wall and spears her ODM gear through his leg to save his life. Daz was the cadet that Historia wouldn't leave behind while traversing through the snow during a season 2 flashback. Ymir ditches Historia, transforms in a titan, and saves him. They are both in several other scenes throughout the series as well. You guys definitely should watch this series again sometime in the future at your own leisure. It's amazing what you notice when you aren't trying to figure out wtf is going on each episode. For instance, you see future Eren (memory time-traveling Eren) in a few sequences in season 1, amongst other things. Also, Connie is such an underrated character. He's by no means one of my favorites, but he's one of the 3 (Jean, Sasha) that tag along with the crew and are just normal soldiers. No titan abilities, no special Ackerman bullshit. They all give such a great perspective of the humanity of the situation for the audience to really ground themselves in a fantasy story with monsters and supernatural shit going on.
