2024-02-15 05:44:47 +0000 UTChere's my idea... so the electricity grid is in poor shape. This "infrastructure" needs to be upgraded to modern standards... it is just so old and causes problems. The issue is the cost... it's crazy expensive to upgrade the grid, like it would take 50 years to hundreds of years and insane costs. One of the issues is the permitting crossing across large swathes of the country... er... all the local permitting may take a hundred years to get through. Okay here's my idea, do it underground. There are 3 major grids, the Western grid, Eastern grid, and Texas(?) grid. Remember that Texas winter when all the electricity went out?, destroyed so many things as frozen pipes burst and homes(?) were flooded, no heat in extreme winter, really bad. Anyway, could you skip the local permitting gridlock by running underground tunnels to create a hidden private electricity grid? This underground grid could connect solar farms etc to far away places where the power is needed... all the while the upper grid above ground could be worked on for the next couple of hundred years. Just a thought, a possible solution to an untenable problem of current civilization. Think what happened to the Roman empire?, they're not around anymore.

If so then they should be on the hook for the costs of construction as well... The alternative is sneaking around... constructing around the property and then when the economic boom comes they are excluded from the profits... and when they get grumpy, complain and cause trouble... offer them hush money? π
