All the clues pointing out to Hannah being Cole's mother was all there: 1) The family mottos 2) Hannah refers to Cole as “you little shit” in 3x01 — which Cole then calls Athan in 3x10 3) Future Asshole/Cole at the Emerson Hotel in 3x01 is wearing a scarf that was actually Hannah’s Cleverly ingenious to have the show revolve around him but not in the "you are the hero and you can save the world" way, but all of being a grand set-up to have him erased. He is the Djinn who's blind that his actions are merely reinforcing/creating the loop that already existed. The poem , in hindsight also hinted it: ..."For the seers discovered that the only one who could wield the weapon was the Demon itself." Olivia wouldn't allow herself in any circumstance to be erased. Cole, with his selfless nature, fits. But the biggest clue was hidden in plain sight. In 1x09, where Cole from Chechnya reunites w/ 2017 Cassie at the CDC: Cassie: "I thought it was over... and that you were erased. All those years you and I fought, and we couldn't stop it."
