I think Baltar left that note for Adama, telling him there were 12 models. He's the only colonial that knew it at that point. That's why the camera cut afterwards to him in the CIC. It's also when he angrily tells Head Six that he is not on anybody's side. I think he leaves the note just before or just after that. But I think he left that note because he wanted to warn them in any way he could, as long as it didn't put him at risk. Cavill has no reason to be telling Adama about the number of Cylons yet, I don't think.
