Ouch! :D Harsh review (did not expect it), but I appreciate you being honest and saying 100% how you feel. "Miracle Man" isn't on my personal favorites list either, but I find several episodes from season one to be much worse, like "Space" and even "Ghost in the Machine" for instance. It's also always interesting to see how viewers' opinions differ in regards to certain episodes. "Space" for instance is generally regarded as one of the worst episodes of the entire series, not just season one, but you seemed to enjoy it much more than "Miracle Man". I don't find that negative in any way, shape or form. I find it interesting. :) A lot of it simply comes down to a matter of taste, and it seems you have a strong aversion to religious stories. However, I like the fact that you basically asked the most important question relevant for the episode prior to the opening credits, which was about bringing the man with such terrible burns back to life. I was just waiting for you to continue and say "maybe the guy won't like being alive in such a body", lol. So I'm glad you didn't realize who the killer was until the very end. You said you were actually surprised, and I guess that's one of the very few good things you liked about this episode, the (unexpected) reveal of the killer. To clear up things regarding the story: whatever we may feel regarding religion, the actual episode strongly implies (if not definitively shows) that Samuel did indeed raise a man from the dead, perform healing miracles, show unexplained knowledge regarding Mulder's sister, and as absurd as it may sound, was himself raised from the dead at the end. We can put a question mark on whether Mulder seeing his sister is Samuel inducing visions, or Mulder seeing what he wants to see, but regarding Samuel having had supernatural (and extraordinary) healing abilities, the episode should make it pretty clear that he did. The Sheriff was responsible for the boy's death, and the episode implies that he will face consequences for it. Your opinion about the quality of this episode is perfectly valid of course, but I do ask myself whether you would've enjoyed the episode if it had definitively revealed that the boy was a fraud? Regardless, I still enjoyed your reaction and your review of the episode very much. Cheers!
