I'm going through these again at the moment, which is most enjoyable. You're very rewatchable, Mr Wolf, and very entertaining! :-) It's really interesting to see how you saw things at this point versus how you see them later, now that we've seen you react to the whole thing. That's what separates out great reactors and reviewers from good ones, for me personally, the rewatchability factor. This series being what it is and being as complex, serialised and consistent as it is, that aspect is particularly strong here! Seeing you unpicking it and trying to piece everything together - it's honestly so much fun - reacting to things really is a whole new form of entertainment! I used to love reading Battlestar Galactica reviews for the same reason - there's a site called Jammer's Reviews - a chap named Jamahl reviewed the show episode by episode. As did Mark Oshiro of Mark Does Stuff. Both of them did quite a bit of sci-fi - you might like reading their stuff on TV shows you've already seen, since you like sci-fi. Jammer did all the Star Treks and a lot more besides. Mark's done a ton of episode reviews as well as writing chapter-by-chapter reviews of multiple book series. I always loved that it's Dee who comforts Lt. Gaeta, telling him he can't blame himself, it wasn't his fault for not checking the updated star fixes. Hell, even Tigh doesn't blame him and knows it was his own fault, and we know what a hardass he is. Though Gaeta doesn't know that, of course. Anyway, I love that it's Dualla, because she knows exactly how he feels. She made a mistake and lost the Olympic Carrier. Ultimately for the best since it told them that ship was the problem, but that devastation of making such a mistake when you're the one on duty and people depend on you - she probably has the most empathy with him. She knows how awful he feels and that he absolutely blames himself for it.

I always thought the reason Caprica’s Sharon was so different from Galactica’s, was because she was aware of her nature so she didn’t have any part of her hidden from herself. This is why she was able to make the decision to stick with Helo and not the Cylons

Hit return too soon. We've had the problem within the British army in the past - officers were educated and generally a lot wealthier. In the more distant past they had to be VERY wealthy and essentially bought their way in. The enlisted troops were working-class soldiers and could be a heck of a lot better at the actual job. I've no doubt Crash is a smart man. But Chief's been on the Galactica for however long, he's experienced at creative solutions and has command experience, even though I don't think he's old enough to have ever fought the Cylons before.

The Crashdown/Chief problem is one we've shared in the UK. Non-commissioned people vs. officers. Adama stated last season that Chief was the most experienced non-commissioned officer they had left. Crash, by contrast, is an officer - a higher rank but in this case, far less experienced.
