My Dream Celebrity Voice Cast for the BKI Anime

PART 1 😉

So, first, shoutout to Kevin Laurore for giving me this amazing idea for a fun, topical little post. BUT also damn 😆 because I had so much fun writing this and brainstorming my ideas for which celebrities I'd imagine voicing my characters if a BKI anime was ever made.

For this post, I'm only doing the characters that have had quite a few speaking lines as to keep it concise, but I will be adding to it in the future as more characters develop 😘

Without further ado, here's the breakdown:

Charlie Carver as Norman Castor

It's actually really funny because what sells me on Charlie Carver is his personality, not so much his voice. Don't get me wrong, his voice is lovely, but Charlie is wonderful at playing characters with a vulnerable side. 

I like how his voice is slightly nasal-y too because it adds a nerdy overtone to how he talks. I think this would go great with Norman's insecure personality. 

I was watching this video where he explains how he came out while writing this and I think it captures his essence really well. I can just hear him and imagine him speaking as Norman in the show.

Jonathan Groff as Norman Castor (Alt)

My first choice is Charlie, but I also love the sweet slice of gay life that is Jonathan Groff. He's such a talented actor. BUT, aside from the fact that he's gay, I LOVE HIS VOICE.  Here's his interview with Ellen for reference. And holy fuck can he SING. Gahhh fuck me up Kristoff daddy.

I would love to hear him play Norman voice. it would be very fulfilling and...sensual? I also think he would be great at voicing all of Norman's awkward scenes.

Jeffrey Bower-Chapman as Caliban the Demon

Jeffrey's voice is SEX 😭❤️🙌🏻 me gusta tan muchoooooooo! Where is the lie? Watch this interview and tell me I'm right.

I have a lot in mind for Cal's voice actor, but Jeffrey just embodies his personality so well.

I also love his ability to play 3-dimensional characters. He can play the self-serving closeted guy that struggles with his identity, but he can also play a very tender and loving guy that shows empathy and compassion. Not that Cal struggles with his sexual identity at all, but on the demonic level he will have a lot of growing up and maturing to do if he wants to build a lasting relationship with Norman. We NEEED Jeffrey for Cal. We must have it. 

PLUS I think Jeffrey and Charlie would make a cute and compatible couple (like in the show for Norman and Cal's characters, not IRL). Lots of great potential and lovable awkwardness there 😋

Colton Haynes as Caliban the Demon (Alt)

IF and ONLY IF I can't have Jeffrey 😭 I chose Colton Haynes as my first alternate for Cal's voice actor. I found this interview (not the best I know) of Colton and I love his voice so much. BUT I think he would play a great Cal. We know he can play cocky, self-centered characters with a soft side (Teen Wolf) but we also know he can play serious and caring roles (AHS/Arrow? lol). Idk I just love Colton and would love for him to play Cal.

Plus I think he would add a great cast-pairing working together with Charlie. They would make a cute Norman/Cal couple and I think their acting together would really improve the dynamic of the two characters.

Zendaya as Jasmin Drake

Okay, hear me out. I love Zendaya's voice because she has a very chill essence. I want Jazmin to be the cool cat of the group because she really does have a level head and can think quick on her feet in tense situations. I know we haven't seen much of that yet, but that's why I think Zendaya would make a good Jazmin. Her voice would really give Jaz that calm and collected air about her character.

Plus, Zendaya is great at that funny-awkward humor and Jazmin has a lot of that 😆

Luke MacFarlane as Liam Halgur

I really enjoy Luke Macfarlane in Killjoys, and I definitely didn't know he's gay until today 😂 But his voice is burly and wonderful. I feel like he'd make a great Liam. He has a frat-bro kinda air to his voice and I think this would really add to Liam's character, especially as he works to discover himself and his sexuality.

Indya Moore as Cora Vasquez

I. Love. Pose. I love Pose. I lovelovelovelovelovelovelove Pose. But I love Indya Moore the most.

Indya Moore is an amazing individual. I think they'd make an amazing Cora, though I know Cora self-identifies as cisgender lesbian and Indya self-identifies as transgender non-binary. I chose Indya because they have an incredibly calm demeanor to their acting and I love the way they flow through dialogue on screen. I think Indya would make an amazing Cora because they can play decisive and well-composed characters. That will be critical for Cora's development. Also, Indya's VOICE is smooth like ice cream and I've been listening to this interview of them on repeat.

Graham McTavish as Astaroth

After witnessing the glory that was Graham's Dracula in Netflix's Castlevania, I knew I wanted him as the BKI's main villain (for now 😜).

His vast range of emotions in the role of Dracula gives me a glimpse of how well he'd play a rageful, contemptuous Demon King like Astaroth. Plus, it's hard to find good villain voice actors.

Idris Elba as Astaroth (Alt)

I can't deny I'd be all over Idris Elba if he was gay. His voice could seduce the pants off ANY Demon King, let's be honest. Because of that, I think he'd make a great Lord of Manipulation.

Loved him in the Thor movies, even though he didn't have many speaking roles. BUT he stole my heart as Chief Bogo in Zootopia 😆

Watch and love his voice.

I also high key think he needs to be the next James Bond.

Zachary Quinto as Belphegor

I high key loved Zachary Quinto as the villain in N0S4A2. He's proved he can play manipulative characters very well and I'd love to see how he would tackle Bel's character dynamic.

Plus, his voice is wonderful. It'd be interesting to see how he would play an unstable character like Bel while also adding 3-dimensional aspects to his character solely through voice acting.

I also really want to hear him speak Bel's lines with condescending hate when speaking to Cal. Very specific, but that's what I'm going for with Bel.
