The video, which looks to have been developed internally at CDPR, appeared online as part of the recent data breach leaks. It shows a collection of Cyberpunk 2077 bugs spliced together in a sort of blooper reel and was probably due to ship alongside the final game as bonus content a la The Witcher 3.
- In an alternate world where Cyberpunk 2077 released as a polished, glittering triumph players would likely have welcomed a comedic look behind the scenes. As it stands the video is just another reminder of the multitude of issues still present in the game following its very messy launch.
Yuji Naka "may retire" following Square Enix departure
The Sonic the Hedgehog co-creator recently confirmed his departure from Square Enix following a disappointing launch for Balan Wonderworld - and it seems like he's looking at hanging it up entirely.
- Naka confirmed in his announcement post that he resigned from Square Enix at the end of April but couldn't say why just yet - although he also pointed out that he's "already" 55, and might retire. Naka had created an entirely new studio within Squre Enix to work on Balan Wonderworld, which probably didn't look great when the game turned out to be a commercial and critical failure.
Deep Silver reveal extensive list of franchises that won't be at E3
While devs and pubs these days like to set expectations for showcases ahead of time to avoid fan disappointment - Deep Silver have taken pains to set them on the floor and quietly walk away. There will be no Dead Island, Metro, Saints Row, or TimeSplitters.
- TimeSplitters was only confirmed as a projet recently but new instalments in Deep Silver's flagship franchises are deep in development. This raises the question of what exactly Deep Silver will be showing off, especially with parent company Koch Media confirmed to be holding a broadcast on June 11th.
Knockout City has brought in 5m unique players since launch
EA recently confirmed that the multiplayer dodge ball title, which only released at the end of May, has attracted over 5m players across all platforms. It looks like EA have learned a few lessons from that time they sent Rocket Arena out to die.
- Knockout City is a solid enough game in its own right but developers Velan Studios and EA really set themselves up for success. The game released simultaneously on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch with full cross-play. It's also free-to-play until level 25, and the premium version is part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Ball up.
