Speaking of EA, they've denied the claims of a leaked marketing document that they specifically drive players toward FIFA's most controversial and profitable mode. The document says EA refer to the mode as "the cornerstone" and do everything they can to push players towards it.
- The document was reportedly leaked by a "gaming insider" who took issue with the game's attempts to push players towards a lootbox-riddled mode in a premium release. There were questions over the authenticity of the document by EA's denial has made things a bit more interesting.
Resident Evil Village's limited-time demo will stick around a bit longer
Resident Evil's hotly-anticipated next installment launches in a few weeks and Capcom have been keeping players interested with a series of limited-time demos. The problem is that they were a little too limited - the last one was only available for 24 hours.
- To combat this, Capcom have extended the availability period of the final hour-long demo by an entire week. This means that the demo will be available for eight full days starting May 1st in North America, and May 2nd in Europe.
Microsoft tweak Windows 10 updates following gaming performance issues
Last week a couple of Windows updates were discovered to be the cause of some pretty hefty performance issues on AMD, Intel, and Nvidia-based gaming hardware. Thankfully, Window 10's new rollback system will allow users to undo a targeted fix.
- The updates in question (KB5000842 and KB5001330) originally released towards the end of March but it took a while for them to be identified as the cause of gaming performance issues like stuttering, reduced FPS, lag, and V-sync instability. Hopefully, everything is ironed out now, though.
Knockout City is headed to EA Play and Xbox Game Pass on launch day
The team-based multiplayer "dodgebrawl" title comes courtesy of Mario Kart Live developer Velan Studios and is set to launch on all platforms next month. It'll be "free" on Xbox Game Pass and EA Play and $20 elsewhere, so it'll be interesting to see what the playercount looks like.
- If Knockout City does gain a bit of momentum it'll be a stark contrast to a similar game from a few months back Rocket Arena was a solid enough multiplayer shooter but EA attached a premium price tag to it and sent it out to die. Being an EA Original really is a dangerous game.
