Capcom's second Resident Evil-themed news blast of 2021 will include another trailer for Resident Evil Village ahead of its May 7th release date, as well as "a few other surprises." The open beta for Resident Evil Re:Verse, a multiplayer mode that'll be bundled with Village is also ongoing over the weekend.
- It'll be interesting to see what exactly these surprises might be. It's possible that we could see the unveiling of a new remake project after the successes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 - is it finally time to tackle the big boy that is Resident Evil 4? Or perhaps something more offbeat like Code Veronica? Watch this space.
WWE 2K22 will be revealed this weekend
Publisher 2K have confirmed that they will share a "special announcement" regarding the series' newest instalment during Wrestlemania this weekend. This will be the first WWE 2K game since the truly dreadful WWE 2K20 forced the entire series to take a year off to sit in the corner and have a good long talk with itself.
- WWE 2K20 really was a disastrous full debut for devs Visual Concepts, and it was so surprising because the studio had collaborated on the series for ages. Last year 2K announced a "renewed focus" on quality for the franchise, bringing in industry veteran Patrick Gilmour to oversee development. Fingers crossed that year off has sorted things out a touch.
Deathloop gets a delay
The much-anticipated title, which was originally set to release for PlayStation and PS5 next month, will instead now launch on September 14th - which is actually a pretty chunky delay. Devs Arkane Lyon released a statement outlining that they are "committed to quality and preserving [the] team's ambitions" on the game.
- The delay is also partly to ensure the health and safety of the developers, which is fair enough, and to give the team extra time to create a "fun, stylish, and mind-bending player experience." Deathloop is just the latest in a long line of pandemic-related delays but hopefully the end product is all the better for it.
Is Cliff Bleszinski planning a return to gaming?
Bleszinski rose to fame during his stint as lead designer of the Gears of War series but took a break from the games industry in 2018 following the back to back flops of Lawbreakers and Radical Heights. It now looks like he's back with a new project, but he isn't saying too much just yet.
- Bleszinski took to Twitter to confirm that he is indeed working on "some new stuff" and to say that it's "agonizing" not getting to talk about it. He later followed up that his new project "might not necessarily be a videogame" but it absolutely is - but will it be as woke as Lawbreakers? Bleszinski does think that's why Lawbreakers failed, after all.
