According to studio art director Yoji Shinkawa, who gave a video interview with AI Hub, he is "doing something, for sure" and can confirm that the team will probably be ready to unveil their next game "quite soon." Kojima Productions confirmed back in October 2020 that they were seeking "best-in-class talent" to fill 25 positions.
- It's anyone's guess what Kojima's next game will entail, although we have had teases since as far back as Death Stranding's November 2019 release. Kojima has previously said he wants to make a "revolutionary" horror title, and he also released some teaser images that looked an awful lot like a Death Stranding sequel. Norman Reedus is reportedly "in talks" for another Kojima project, too.
Square Enix warns players to update Balan Wonderworld to combat epilepsy risk
Colourful platformer Balan Wonderworld has had a turbulent launch day so far, thanks to reports that the final boss fight contains a possible epilepsy risk. Square Enix have quickly responded that this is a bug with the unpatched version of the game, and have advised players to ensure they have downloaded the day one update.
- It was a video from YouTuber Bigdaddyjende that prompted the response from Square Enix. Their video shows some potentially dangerous flashing white lights during the game's finale that definitely needed to be patched out. Cyberpunk 2077 got in bother for something similar back in December, so the industry really needs to take notice going forward.
Hades cleans house at the BAFTA Games Awards 2021
The godlike roguelike brought home an impressive five awards from this year's BAFTA Games Show - Best Game, Artistic Achievement, Game Design, Narrative, and Performer in a Supporting Role. Hades is an absolutely stellar game so the awards are well deserved.
- Elsewhere in the show - Animal Crossing: New Horizons, The Last of Us Part II, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure each picked up two awards apiece. Ghost of Tsushima won for Audio Achievement, Spider-Man: Miles Morales for Music, and Dreams for Technical Achievement. A solid wee show all around, then.
Looks like a Ghost of Tsushima movie is incoming
As reported by Deadline, John Wick director Chad Stahelski is set to collaborate with Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions to bring a new take on the story to the big screen. The game's developers, Sucker Punch Productions, are also attached as executive producers.
- It really is a fruitful time for video game adaptations. This Ghost of Tsushima movie is just the latest in a long line of adaptations that include projects based on things like Resident Evil, Dota, Assassin's Creed, Cyberpunk, Dragon's Dogma, and Splinter Cell. And that's just on Netflix!
