Announced late yesterday, Phil Harrison has confirmed that Stadia will move from focusing on exclusive, first party content to hosting and supporting third party content. According to Kotaku, this includes selling Stadia's tech to publishers as a product for them to use. Their 150+ devs will be let go or relocated within Google, although they don't have other games in production.
- This was going to happen sooner than later, given the history Google has with its products and the weak splash Stadia made versus the millions of investment from Google. What a waste of dev time. Only a matter of time until it's canned entirely.
God of War PS5 Patch Out Today
God of War can now be played at 4K/60FPS on PS5, following a patch adding the 'Enhanced Performance Experience'. Previously, it was restricted to an unlocked framerate at 1080p or a locked 30 at 4K.
- Being a patient gamer has never looked nor felt as good. Playing any end-of-generation game at launch is starting to look like a big mistake.
Control Ultimate Is On PS+, So Why No Free Upgrade?
Control's Ultimate Edition is available on PS5 and XSX, and free on PS+, while the non-Ultimate is on Game Pass for PC and Console. However, it's sparked some foul sentiment, after 505 were 'unable' to deliver next-gen upgrades to owners of the original Control, instead requiring them to purchase the Ultimate edition that included DLC.
- It's all a bit complicated. If it takes more than one or two quick Google searches to find out how to play the right version of a game, something's gone wrong. The tl;dr is: You need to buy Ultimate for Xbox or PC, but get it on PS+ for PS5.
Zelda Live Action & Star Fox Stop Motion Cancelled After Leaks
Apparently, Nintendo hate leaks so much that they cancelled two collaborative projects once someone spilled the beans. The big one was a live action Zelda that Netflix were working on, and once that got leaked, Nintendo cancelled it and a stop motion Star Fox animation with CollegeHumor.
- Apparently, Netflix leaked this intentionally to drum up excitement, but it backfired. Thanks, Netflix! Both of these shows would have been interesting if not fantastic!
Lady Dimitrescu's (Yes, Her!) Height Revealed
Finally, we have confirmation. Lady Dimitrescu, the very large vampire lady from Resident Evil Village, is 9 feet and 6 inches tall, or 290cm. That's including her hat and heels. The Art Director of Village shared this in a PR message, thankful for all the outpouring of attention, positivity and support surrounding the character and game.
- Everyone's wilding out here in 2021. It's awesome to see fans and devs have such fun with characters and trends, though - it really livens up the experience of following games. No drama, just people in unison sweating over a character design.
