Uzziel - The Archangel of Creation

Welcome, everyone to the artwork for Uzziel, a sexy pacifist who likes to talk to trees!

Uzziel is one of my favorite female characters in the story. Not only because she's a sexy lady, but also because she's a foil to Jason, our protagonist. Despite neither of them sharing any particular characteristics, be that their species, skin color, gender, upbringing, or anything else, their life philosophies mirror each other nearly identically.

Jason is a peaceful man, one who believes wars can be won with words. No matter how the Archangels tell him that the demons cannot be reasoned with, he shares an outlook similar to Uzziel. She, too, decried the violent ways of her brothers and sisters. She treated the imps as fairly as possible.

It was all for naught.

Uzziel tried to mend the rift between angels and demons, but in the end, nobody on either side listened to her.

As the Archangel of Creation, her powers revolve around creating life and manipulating it. Plants, trees, and creatures all descend from her. Uzziel is not the only angel who can do such things, but she is by far the most experienced and talented.

I won't say anything else for fear of spoilers. Instead, let us move on to more artwork!

First, the initial artwork for Uzziel.

This was the first character design for Uzziel. While attractive, I didn't like it very much. Uzziel is a very attractive, flirty, free-spirited girl. She is neither sexual nor a prude, but someone who believes that creating life is sacred, and anyone who tries to end life is evil.

To that end, I decided to have another artist take a shot at her. I wanted something cuter and more innocent.

Arango stepped up to the plate!

On the whole, I like this interpretation of Uzziel a lot more! She's a bit slimmer, younger-looking, and more importantly she seems a bit more innocent. She wants to have fun and enjoy life, not worry about dark evils lurking over the horizon.

However, as good as this image was, it's also kind of weird. Why is she laying on her back inside a weird, black dungeon, with a single ray of light shining on her. Strange, right?

And so, I had MWTX work on her next.

This is the first draft MWTX made. There are several elements I like, but the biggest issue I have is that her skin was too 'shiny' and plastic looking. The light sources were all over the place, too. So I had him redraw her, but I do think Uzziel's face here has some things I prefer over the final version, posted up top.
