CD Projekt Red won't announce Cyberpunk 2077 DLC until after release day
With the highly-anticipated game's December 10th release date now less than two weeks away, CDPR have announced that they won't be detailing add-on content until the game is already in everyone's hands.
- This is a change from the studios previously-advertised plans to detail the DLC ahead of release day, but joint-CEO Adam Kiciński has said that, with Cyberpunk's numerous delays, it now makes more sense for everyone to have the game before talking DLC.
Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia to acquire controlling stake in SNK
The Mohammad bin Salman Charity Foundation will invest $223m for an initial 33.3% stake in the Japanese developer, with a further agreement stipulating that the Foundation will purchase a further 17.7% of shares in the future.
- The Foundation was established to invest in initiatives that will help "cultivate and encourage learning and leadership in youth for a better future in Saudi Arabia", so you have to wonder whether this could be the start of a prolonged Saudi interest in the global games industry.
Marvel's Avengers is yet to recoup development costs
Square Enix President, Yousuke Matsuda, said in a recent earnings presentation that the game missed its initial sales targets and hasn't yet managed to cover its development costs - meaning it is technically yet to be profitable.
- Avengers' underperformance and huge marketing spending drove a $67m operating loss in Square Enix's HD gaming segment, but the company aren't worried - Matsuda believes that future content will be enough to turn engagement and sales around. That make be a little overly optimistic, but we'll see.
Cuphead's final DLC has been delayed again
The Delicious Last Course DLC was intended to release before the end of the year, but Studio MDHR have confirmed that this date has been pushed to 2021 - the team say they aren’t content for this final chapter to be anything less than [their] best work.”
- This is just the most recent delay to the ambitious piece of DLC, which features new bosses, weapons, and even a new playable character. The Delicious Final Course was supposed to release in 2019 before being delayed into 2020, and now beyond. With all things Cuphead, though, it'll likely be very worth the wait.
A PlayStation Plus Collection loophole is getting PS4 users banned
The curated library of PS4 games is only available to PS5 users with an active PlayStation Plus membership, but a loophole currently allows PS5 owners to log into PS4 owners' accounts on their PS5 - which unlocks the games on that user's PS4.
- Several eBay listings have already appeared offering to unlock the PlayStation Plus Collection on PS4 in exchange for money. Sony are already on the ban warpath though - reportedly handing down two month bans to anyone who sells or buys PlayStation Plus access in this way. Yikes.
