Getting The Elephants Out Of The Room

...yeah, I’m totally getting all the silly serious stuff out of the way in this post so that we’ve cleared up to have the more cheerful stuff over the holidays!
Before we get into it, a quick note on the master tier. It seems as if the last two months has had an abnormally high rate of people not getting their packages. I’m not exactly sure why, but I have been following it up with the post office. If you’ve been effected, please let me know - I’ll get replacements sent over. I’ll let you know what’s up when I know more about why this has happened!
The main take away is that I have worked out a plan moving forward & that things will be back to normal during January. With certain things not working out, I took the decision to half the planned output for the back half of December as I felt that it’d be too much of a stress on the team.
As for what’s happening, well I don’t want to get into details, but we’ve had some failings compound, such that out ability to get things done was greatly reduced.
We have had some good developments, for example with the video formats. You’ll see that continue and improve into the future.
As for Patreon, well they have bumbled their way into a PR mess. For the most part creators are upset over their loose enforcement of their rules. Sargon was banned, but in a way that wasn’t clear base on their community guidelines, while many other channels, including some of their largest creators, have done similar things, but just in a different political direction.
As for my thoughts on Sargon, well on the whole I don’t agree with Sargons use of language, although I do agree with the core of his point - that white supremacists are tremendously hypocritical and engage in the behaviours that they accuse others of. There’s a larger debate about context that I think is important, but isn’t really my wheelhouse, so we’re best benching that one for later.
For the most part it’s the lack of clarity in Patreons rules that has creators worried. Then for a segment of Patrons, the lack of equal enforcement, seemingly in correlation with political leaning, is a problem. A few people have jumped ship, though political creators have been hit a lot harder. Ultimately I have a lot of respect for people who’ll vote with their wallets based on their principals. Sure, it mightn’t be ideal for me, but integrity is worthy of respect.
So, let me know if you have any questions. We’ll be back to normal ASAP, and there’s plenty that I want to share here over the holidays. I hope you’re all having a wonderful time, and I’ll chat soon :)
