"Freedom Week" | Update
Added 2018-11-19 15:00:00 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Well, Conall is still in America, the production schedule is remarkably tight, and I have a week to work on long-term goals. Not having to worry about the next 2-3 days constantly is fantastic and this should be an excellent week for the long-term health of the channel.
Last Week
First, let’s review last week! Overall, I think it was a success. While the classic/live video didn’t perform massively in terms of views, it really seemed like those who were interested appreciated it. Definitely a time where reading the comments felt good - especially with how many people also loved the TBC music!
We then had the large 8.1 guides. That thing was a beast - and that was based off the cut down version of the original script! While the quantity of content isn’t that massive, there are plenary of impactful systems changes. 8.1 indeed is an odd beast given how reactive some of its changes are, but it’s absolutely a welcome one.
This Week
I’m in the decently insane position of having all of this weeks videos done! Well, bar news, of course - I’m not the villain of Tomorrow Never Dies! So, the puzzle box video is already up on early access, and my patch 8.3 speculations will go up tomorrow.
Overall we’re pretty focused on lore and ideas. That’ll continue on into next week as well. We’re in a bit of a lull regarding in-game content, though December will be pretty darn busy! We’ll have class changes, the gearing guide, the levelling guide and quite a lot more.
Future Work
I’m using this free’d up schedule to work on two main things. First, the Wrath of the Lich King documentary. I hope that it comes out a lot better than the previous Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria ones. I think I’ve come on a fair bit as a writer since doing them. It’s a challenge that I’m looking forward to, especially since it’s the first expansion that I played properly. I dabbled very lightly in Vanilla and roamed around like a moron in TBC, but it was only in Wrath that I began to become a good player. That's when I started really thinking about throughout & going the extra mile to sim my character builds. Narratively, it was also incredible for the time. Then from a design perspective, Wrath is almost like a cross dissolve between TBC and Cataclysm. This expansion was the bridge between two very different versions of World of Warcraft. 3.0 and 3.3 couldn’t have been more different.
So, that’ll be a fun challenge! The other thing that I’m working on is the channel branding. We made a new logo for Blizzcon. I love how it turned out, but we’re now in the odd position of having things be inconsistent. I’m not exactly sure how I’ll fix this problem, but it’s a major near-term goal.
Comments
WotLK is near and dear to most people. So many of us came to Warcraft from WCIII. I think people were over saturated with classic videos.
