Hey patreon pals! It's been a whirlwind of a week or so!

I am so happy to say that Mélodie and I have had a baby girl and she is healthy. I cannot express fully how proud I am of Mélodie for her strength through all of labour and how much I love seeing her being a mother to our daughter. Our daughter! My heart jumps at the word.

Things may be a little quiet here for a while, but who knows? We have already started to get a bit of a rhythm to our new life, and I will inevitably have some ideas I'm going to want to share with you all.

For the business side of things, as I say above, I will be attending the Montréal Comic Arts Festival (MCAF/FBDM) next weekend, but with a smaller table than in recent years. I'll be tabling without Mélodie so I'm taking bets as to how many hours it will take before it all falls apart.

Also! My comics have had some nominations! Woven is up for a Bédélys award (Best English Language Self-published), which will be named at the opening ceremony for MCAF next Thursday. And Life After Life was just nominated for an Eisner award! (Best Webcomic) Those get awarded at the San Diego Comic Con in July. It's my second time being nominated for both a Bédélys and an Eisner and I am just over the moon.

This is beginning to be a busy year for False Knees! I'm just so grateful that people are still enjoying my comics. I hope to keep them up until I'm 83 years old.

Love, Joshua

Congratulations! I’m new to patreon, but stumbled on your work during covid and already own Spores, another of your books and your stickers decorate my calendar/diary… 🌻 Much love and appreciation for your humanity! It is needed more than ever… 🇩🇰🇬🇱🇨🇦

Congratulations on the new little chick!! Enjoy! They grow up too fast.

Hooray for expanding kneesclan! Hope you have a wonderful time cramming worms in her maw and shoving her into the cruel world in a couple weeks (joking, but one day you'll see her grown and it will feel like it's only been a couple weeks. Haha.) I've actually had three baby Eastern Phoebes under my side door overhang. Such an exciting time.

Congratulations!!! We had our own chick last week after a challenging labor and as soon as my husband wakes up from his survival nap I'm showing him this. I already feel the experience of knowing my son changing how I experience everything else (and how I relate to my art). I can't wait to see how your daughter manifests in your work. Wishing you and Melodie rest and peace with her (and a extra dose of admiration for Melodie as the experience of labor is still fresh for me, too). Thank you for sharing this slice of parenthood with us!
