Parallel Dimension

There have been many distractions in my life in the last few months–it feels good to get another comic out!
You may have noticed a strange waviness in backgrounds of this strip (if not, great!). The reason is because I ran each frame through a program called Glaze, a defence against machine learning image generators. I have mixed feelings about using this software: it takes time and computational power, plus it does change the look of my art to varying degrees. But I believe that artists should be able to opt out of their work being used to train algorithms. I suppose it's too late for all of my previous comics, but maybe with this kind of software my future ones can be protected a little. I wish artists didn't have to think about this sort of thing.
I am sorry that you have to do that, and I hope that it works. that is what i see through the portal: hope. And more of your work

I can’t notice any wavey weirdness

"Do you see it?" And the birdie's eyes shine like diamonds 💖
I love everything in this strip.
About the Glaze effect, it's only noticeable if you zoom the inages a LOT, and it worths it.
In Europe, the governments have obligated Meta to change its Terms of service, as the usage of our images and posts is against the lawn here. By the moment we have won the huge company. It's one step. We must keep fighting.
AI is great for science and investigation, when it's used to help humans. Not to substitute us.

So happy to see something from you on a rainy Friday afternoon! And I didn't notice any difference!

I think it's because those people have no talent of their own, so they steal from others.

It's stealing- that's what's happening when others use your work for ANY reason without your permission. I'm so sorry the onus of protecting your work from theft is on you, but apparently, government doesn't care, neither do the theives.
And I saw no wavy lines, but almost got high on seeing such lovely birds living their best life. That parallel dimension is looking better all the time!

If it helps thwart the ai nightmare that's hanging about, I'm absolutely okay with it.

I think it looks good! but I also think that it won't work consistently as an adversarial tool with the AIs. It would be worth testing it against all the major ones (Claude.ai, google gemini, chatgpt) to see if they can accurately describe a "glazed" image. I am betting that at least some of them can.

Glad you are using Glaze! It's absolutely wild that you should even have to. But I'm glad your work and style will stay yours.

As always, great strip. I don't notice anything different from glaze? I'm glad you have tools to protect your art. Seems messed up that we live in a world where humans are doing manual labor and AIs are making art and music.

I'm sorry we're living in this dystopian hellscape for modern art, but I'm glad you've found a resource to help you combat it. Bonne continuation!

Lovely as always! Unfortunately Glaze and Nightshade are pretty easily defeated by lossy resizing methods, but they do at least make the thieves put in more effort. No AI will ever be able to steal the beauty that's in your heart, though.

I love the look of this strip, and the message.

I originally discovered your work through doing a reverse image lookup of a viral strip that turned out to be an appropriation of one of your works. (The original was about a crow doing standup comedy, the stolen remix was about a crow doing a lecture about Michel Foucault.) No citation even! What’s wrong with people?

Beautiful as always! I'm glad you're using Glaze to protect your art style. Not only do the plagiarism bots steal work, they also poison art styles. I feel so bad for all the artists whose styles got associated with "ai" against their will. I've never seen False Knees themed AI generated images and I hope they never get made.

Beautiful work as always! I definitely share your frustrations with being obligated to protect artwork now. Glad to see you use protective software now too though!

This is beautiful, and no, you shouldn't have to worry about machines churning our your art style
