Hi! Just me (Trent) here at the moment, Rachel is on a family holiday and I've taken a couple of days out for a bit of self care. So this Miscast Minute is a little bootleg and late but Ive got something exciting to share.
For the last couple of years Ive wanted to create a YouTube series about problem solving and I'm doing it! The pilot episode is underway. This was sparked after getting into woodwork and how useful I found good beginner videos to overcome the wall of actually starting.
Here's the run down of how these episodes are being written so far. It sounds very rigid and boring on paper but the execution with be very fun in video form.
Each episode will be focused on a material or skill and will follow the structure of:
1. The fundamentals - the most efficient explaination of everything you need to get started working with the topic. (You'd be familiar with this from early Miscast Terrain videos)
2. Real application - how Im currently applying those skills in my day to day work and in a variation of art froms and practical uses. (This takes a lot of inspiration from my current vlog format and is a opportunity to showcase what I've made/ been making in a neat way)
3. Experimentation - in real time I experiment with the material or skill to see how else it can be used/pushed/manipulated outside of my current understanding. This will hopefully teach problem solving and my experimentation process.
4. You - A simple project and resources to get you started and maybe an opportunity to showcase your work from a previous episode.
Through this series I want to demonstrate how wide of an application some of my skills have and how beneficial a vast skillset can be even just a very basic understanding. A quote I love from the Kingkiller Chronicles is "small facts lead to great knowings." and that's the foundation of the project.
If you have suggestions for topics you want covered please let me know below. I have taken a lot inspiration from the q&a questions I receive.
This series will cover all aspects of the channel from model making, prop making, art, craft and rpg making. So if there is ANYTHING I can help demystify please let me know.
I really think this will be an opportunity to also showcase my YouTube friends and their unique offerings too!
