The Miscast Minute 004

Hello again and thank you for your patience while we have both been busy with Christmas festivities.

I have been working on another kitbashing video but I’m now on a few days break for Christmas and will resume filming over the next few days.

The original idea was to create 26 kitbashes for my 26th birthday. And well… so far I’ve made two. My plan has deviated a bit and I’m now thinking I’ll turn the pieces into dioramas using a few wooden boxes that I picked up op shopping.

For inspiration for these new kit bashes, I’ve purchased a Hello Kitty Gundam kit which is pretty different to the models which I normally kitbash. I also bought an anime spaceship. I don't know what anime it’s from but it looks cool. One of my local hobby shops is great for inspiration because they have weird model kits and strange collectables and every trip is a bit of a surprise. It's honestly like those dreams where you stumble across the perfect shop with all the stuff inside you never knew you wanted and everything is cheap and you get arms full of stuff and you wake up and you arms are above your head.

Back to the topic of op shopping, I bought a few wooden boxes - enough for the worker to comment “you must really love boxes”. One of the boxes I found was this really old and long instrument box. I think it was made in the 40s or 50s. It looks really cool and I want to create a sculpture inside of it… probably a big sci-fi city.

After receiving a deck of tarot cards for my birthday, I’ve decided to go ahead with making a full deck of tarot cards for Arcane Ugly. Because the project is going to be quite ambitious I've asked my friend Luke (Nerd Craft HQ) for help. I'll be taking care of the game design aspect of the cards and he'll be doing the art. Together we've brainstormed a lot of ways to use the tarot cards, but for now they're going to allow players to contribute to the narrative of the game in weird ways.

Here's the work in progress of one of the first cards, The Tower.

Aaaannd here's a picture of a flying pig for the familiar chapter (by Rachel).

We’re going to feature your work here! Send through what you’ve been working on and a quick description to miscastminute@gmail.com for your chance to be featured.

My goal for 2022 is to speed up my video making process so that I can focus more on my craft and hopefully put out more videos. To achieve this, I’m hoping to build my own overhead rig to film from above. I'll look at recycled materials from around the studio and supplement them with a Bunnings gift voucher I was given as a gift.

Both Rachel and I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas filled with joy, lots of food and hopefully a bit of hobbying. As a little gift, here is a link to a free download of my Mini DM Notebooks.
