YouTube Hiatus

You may have seen my YouTube post that kicks of a hiatus from reactions for a bit. If you haven't, the tl;dr is that the channel has seen very little growth and few views. 90% of my subscriber base is from 1 YouTube short from 2 years ago, which I think really hurt the channel when it comes to the algo.
Basically, YT feeds new videos to those subs, but they never had any interest in my long format content, so they don't click and YT kills the video.
With that said, you all are quite literally paying for content and I intend to keep my end of the deal to you all. Part of what has me burnt out is editing videos and gaining little in return. I have a few things that will still go out on YT for the remainder of the year, but won't be putting up anything new.
As for Patreon, I plan to continue to record series already in motion, Adventure Time, Vox, FMAB, and another show I was working towards. I'll be getting these exclusively on Patreon for the time being until it's no longer feasible to or I finish them out.
While I take my hiatus, I'll be shifting focus to reacting to movies and some other creative outlets - one of which has been on my mind for a year or so now.
So ultimately, nothing much will change here - I'll still continue in recording and uploading because I love the few conversations I get here and it's MUCH less taxing to record a video and upload it to Patreon since it doesn't require editing.

I appreciate it Nova, very much! Yeah I definitely don't blame anyone. Before I really got into content creation, I didn't think twice about how a video was made and tbf, reactions aren't THE hardest thing to edit, it's just very time consuming and repetitive. But now, I'll watch a video and think "man, I bet that 4 second joke actually took a lot of effort to incorporate" etc. But I would never expect anyone to look at my videos and think that haha Anyway, thanks for watching and enjoying! :D

2024-11-26 04:18:57 +0000 UTCYeahhh, as a creator in other mediums, I can definitely emphasize with the frustration and burn out from a lack of engagement- I am happy that you are doing what you feel is best. Editing takes a LOT of time, and I don't think many folks who just ambiently consume things on YouTube fully understand this. But ultimately, we all gotta put ourselves and our own needs first- and if something isn't sparking joy, then oftentimes booting it out of the equation is just necessary. I shall continue to enjoy things on this Patreon for however long it brings You enjoyment :D
