Holy crap i found a game i actually like, and i spelled the name wrong on purpose ha ha what a funneh joak.

I'm pretty sure that before i even started playing this game i just decided to love it, so much so that by the time it started i had already assured myself of it's quality. It's basically the opposite of Horizon: Zero Dawn, and therefore it's everything a game should be. That was my reasoning at the time and it's hard to disagree with myself. Usually that's not as hard as you might think. Point is, the game is great. Obviously. I mean just look at it.

Look at the menus, look at the options, look at the piles of endless log entries and text to read. Sweet, delicious data-logs. We all complained incessantly about them in FF13, and now we're praising the hell out of them in Deliverance. Hypocrisy? Or simply changing values in relation to the times and context of a different style of game? The answer is yes.

I think i just like the refreshing novelty of this game. Fantasy is so saturated these days, the idea of a medieval story completely detached from fantastical elements and planted firmly in historical realism is a genuine Rarity these days, and not the sexy kind.

No wait, on second thought, yes the sexy kind.

Take the novel realism, and combine it with a really pretty countryside to explore, genuine player choice and role playing on a level long since abandoned by the Elder Scrolls series, and a metric butt-load of endlessly fascinating historical information and lore to comb through at your own leisure, and you have the recipe for a game that i will play and greatly enjoy for at least a few hours before getting bored and forgetting it ever existed, only remembering when it comes time to dump the footage on patreon and pull some kind of written word-salad out of my bungus to accompany it 3 months later.

I submit this joyously enthusiastic 2-hour riff-fest to you all today, in lieu of just continuing the onslaught of ridiculous, random podcasts about nothing. Right about now i imagine you all look like the time AVGN and Kyle Justin had to bunker themselves behind the couch. "Go behind the couch! Bunker yourself from all these shitty podcasts!"

(AVGN episode 55 - Battletoads)

There's some damn good laffs in this one, some fine riffing if i say so myself. Put it on in the background while you take a shit or play your own games or whatever. Hell, play Deliverance if you have it. It'll be like we're playing it together. Simulate my companionship and pretend you still have friends. I just did that the other day with Donkey Kong Country and Razorfist. It's not sad and pathetic, it's cool.

In the reassuring words of one of the great poets of our time, Singing Bonus Room Narrator Guy From Skullmonkeys...

"You can linger, cause i'm your video friend

think of me as a father figure with a hand to lend"
