2024-12-13 22:30:03 +0000 UTCTo be honest I left the chat with Blackpink a LONG time ago but thanks to a coworker who doesn’t listens to kpop liking Shutdwon that popped up randomly on her Spotify it made me wanna listen to them again and it couldn’t be at a better time because else wise I would’ve not listened to that song and it would’ve been a HUGE LOSS for me because it’s one of the best release I’ve heard this year, like there has been A LOOOOOOT of music coming out with almost everything being soooo good but 2024 was the first time in years I hadn’t had like truly one anthem that has massive “listening in loop” value for me because there was just too much to pay attention too but this has definitely that thing, it’s pop, it’s raw, it’s sad but upbeat, it’s a banger, and the MV is just so beautiful, like I was thinking I was being either overwhelmed or underwhelmed by 2024 in music but this is reviving my sparkle (and from someone who hasn’t listened to a BP song in years and who was not much of a Rose enthusiast it made me change my mind)

It's refreshing and feels very real and raw. I'm so excited to see where she takes her musical career in the coming years, considering this is just the start!

Omg I need to rant about it cause??? Her being the black chess queen and him being the white chess king and im pretty sure white always start and she sings about how HE started the whole thing and the flash-back progressively showing behind scene we thought were cute but just highly toxic (like girlie was the one who fucked up the skate and he is giving her the finger with the tiffany rings she sings about). And the corridor looks like a chess plate !! IT'S SO FUN I love it. I've yet to hear the album but I really need to get around it.
