I will always and forever be a Boromir sympathizer as my friends call me. People have said it earlier but Boromir truly wanted the ring because of his people, out of all the fellowship he has been personally effected by the growing power of Mordor the most and if not stopped his city and people would have no chance. The Dwarves may be able to last in their mountains and the elves have the next world to journey too but for him this was it. His kingdom literally at the door between survival and death. Despite all of that one could see how much he cared about the hobbits. Especially Merry and Pippin. He personally taught them to fight, carried them on his back, risked his life for them so many times and ultimately died trying to protect them, not Frodo and Sam but Merry and Pippin the 2, loveable but ultimately useless members of the fellowship. The first thing he says to Aragorn is that they were taken. He did not have to confess that he attacked Frodo in his death yet he does. He lasted frankly quite some time against the ring especially in compared to other characters who desired it as well. ANYWAY I love Boromir and I hope you keep watching the extended versions! Personally that's what I choose to watch when I rewatch them. and mmmaaayyybbee after LOTR think about StarWars if you haven't checked it out?? Just a suggestion!

2024-12-11 01:46:13 +0000 UTCIf you watch the others, I can’t recommend the extended editions enough. There’s so much context and world-building that would be missing in the theatrical versions. You pay so much attention to the details, I think you would enjoy them much more for a first watch. The Two Towers is my favorite of the trilogy but I understand that the runtimes for the other two films is daunting. It’s worth it, even if it’s in more than two parts. Thank you for giving us your reaction to this, it’s my favorite movie series of all time. I wish I could go back and watch them for the first time again. ❤️

You really understand the point of the different scenes, the dialog, the setup and world building and you seem to have an appreciation for the art of film making. As a die hard fan it was so much fun to watch ❤️

The main complaints against them come from the hard-core Tolkien fans who want everything to be identical to the books. But for a more casual viewer the extended scenes really add to the films a lot imo.

2024-12-08 20:58:25 +0000 UTCOnly 8 minutes in, and it's taken me a couple of days to get here, But I do hope you go on with the 'extended' versions'. 1. I've not seen them all 2. From what I know of them they give more 'lore' context, outside of the standard, but also, without that extra 'lore', I think your 'watch through' will be even more so confusing since you've begun with the 'extra' Lastly 3; One of the best stories ever written. I am 44 years old, and one of the 'things' I gained from my father when he left my my mother was his copies of 'The Hobbit' and his LOTR Trilogy, back when I was like 8 years old. These were the books I cut my literary teeth on. I've read and reread them so many times over the years and with each read, I gain a bit more insight... I'd love to see you watch these, and then revisit them in a decade and give your insight. Truly. You will NOT regret having gone that extra mile.

I definitely remember when I first watched this, I was annoyed with Boromir at times, but that was just me seeing what's on the surface (him tryna take the ring from Frodo) when, in reality, it's the ring talking to most of them and causing them to act a certain way. Also, if you think about it, the ring may have caused him that greed but it was also for HIS PEOPLE that he was doing it for and, when I thought about it further, it just made sense for his character and it's not like he was drawn by the ring bc of a simple greed but, at the end of the day, he was thinking it was what was best for his people. It's ironic bc while he annoyed me a bit in some parts of the movie, his death still had me crying, even from first watch, and I just think him still helping the fellowship, regardless of what he had done prior, and even dying in the process had me emotional lol. I loved his ending scene with Aragorn and him calling Aragorn "my king" at the end. OH AND I LOVE SAM. My favorite character ever!! So glad you loved him too. <3

The whole trilogy is very good and I completely agree with you, the world building in itself is extremely detailed and thought out so I would recommend keeping the details straight just to make it easier on yourself. My choice would be the extended, but you can go either way.

2024-12-07 18:47:12 +0000 UTCJust to Help with the names: Strider was Just the name he went by during Exile, including when the Hobbits Met him at the inn in Part 1, but in truth his name is Aragorn, and he is the heir to the Throne of Gondor (that was revealed also during Part 1, when they were with the elves. So, you can write down Strider/Aragorn, to know that it's the same Person :)

Hoping you decide to continue on with LotR! It is legit my favorite film series of all time so it’s fun to get to see someone discover it for the first time! And don’t worry about however long you need to take to watch them…we had to wait a year in between each film when they premiered in theaters 😱😱😱

I am so on board for you to watch everything related to this universe from this trilogy to the Hobbit. He is a good honourable man, but his desire to protect his people is used by the ring to seduce him and twist his head. And yes, you need to see the next two films! The extended editions do add information, and some things are confusing without them, and if you haven’t read the books. Anyway, next film, the Two towers might actually be my favorite! ❤️

2024-12-05 20:15:12 +0000 UTCGirl, we thinking the same thoughts…. “Where do they keep getting arrows from?” (I genuinely wonder this, how do they never run out?! Elf magic?). Yes, Ned got killed again… smh The Gandalf scene made me cry, ngl. I actually have never seen the extended versions of these and they have a lot more information in them than the original (like the mithrill scene in the mine doesn’t exist in the regular). These movies are so good, they’re visually beautiful (they were filmed in New Zeland and you can do a LOTR). The 2nd movie runs a little slower but there is more story building with it…and a lot of walking. Bahahahah! But the battle scenes are EPIC!! And related, but not, when ATEEZ did the end of “The Leaders” and San was like “One ring to rule them all, one ring to bring them all” everyone was like “What in the LOTR?!” It was not The One Ring here, but I still sing it in my head every time they say “The One Ring”. 😂🤷♀️

It adds a lot of details that just makes the story even better. There are a lot of scenes that helps you get the feelings and thoughts of the characters and some explanation of lore and culture that got cut in The theatrical release and that is a shame. Also, Sam is Best boy through and through.

2024-12-05 17:51:59 +0000 UTCI had a pleasure of going to the hobbiton movie set in Matamata New Zealand and guess what!!! it is still as it was 24 years ago kudos to the whole crew who take care of that place till now, Matamata itself was like a fairytale place it was such a surreal experience to know that once upon a time Peter Jackson found this place while he was searching for the perfect shire for this amazing trilogy ! I used to watch the extended editions of the whole LOTR trilogy (Apendecies included) in one sitting, annually, on or near the anniversary of The Return of the King's release date. The Two Towers soundtrack is still my favorite of the trilogy.
