Performative Activism

 I dont care about tragedies all over the world because I cant.

Something we have to come to grips with is the fact that as wonderful of a tool the internet is... its also brought us an information overload that has blurred our ability to comparmentalize.

Paradox of choice. abundance of options  creates a paralyzing effect.

Paradox of sympathy. where being sympathetic to all suffering often makes you apathetic.

 I got that way with police shootings. with tribal wars. with mass shootings. if you take in too much you begin to feel numb to it all. while it may seem terrible its a natural survival instinct. if you walk barefoot on rocks long enough you eventually build calluses to the point where you feel nothing. (used ti have a guard with 3 inches of skin... you wanna talk about a big foot sighting. imagine a skinny Ethiopian with big feet. like the opposite of an american body builder. all upper body no legs. well hr was no body all feet.)

Some people claim to care about all injustices, but what does thay even mean. to care means serious attention or consideration applied to doing something correctly or tao avoid damage or risk.

If you acknowledge that these arr all serious problems how can you care about everything? in a world where ww acknowledge the importance of commitment and discipline, we also apparently have peoplee who believe they can br committed to everything. make it make sense sway?

You dont care about everything because you cant. you might acknowledge its sad, you may feel its wrong but to care implies you are willing to do work. whens the last time you told you friends you were going to work and u waz done with the press of a button? #CivilRightsMovement

You may say you care, but what chocies are you actively making to stay informed? are you donating your money or time? Are you putting in any work for vast majority of world wide issues?

Of course not because you cant. You don't win a war by fighting on every frontier, you do it by picking your battles and trusting others to handle respective fights.

Assimilating all this suffering has made us unhealthy & cynical, convinced us that the world is going to end despite us being in a better place than where we were 50 - 80 years ago. where our grandparents opened a newspaper and rrsd about mostly local tragedies of a smaller scale, our generation hears about sufferung from everywhere on epic scales.

Its too much snd we arent coping well. 

Rather than accept this we project our inability to cope onto others, shaming them for not showing dedication to causes we often cant do much for ourselves.

Or worse, we expect them to dedicate themselves to causes we hold dear and if they dont we pass judgement not realizing we have ignored causes important to others.

Yes but Palestine is a genocide. in Yemen 130000 people have died. in Ethiopia, ethnic cleansing is under way. In China Yughers are being erased.

Tragedy is all around us... everyday people are dying and were all affected to different degrees depending on our proximity to the issue. But to sit there and say "mine is more important so you should care!" is unbelievably arrogant. To claim your tragedy should take precedent in someones, on who's authority? Who said that you hold the high ground on Virtue.

Yall sre tiring and your virtue signaling is obnoxious enough to light an intersection during a blackout.

This doesn't mean i want you to fail. it doesnt mean i want others suffer. it just means that Whether things end well or not... I feel indifferent and I refuse to pretend otherwise
