I heard a lot of Bigbang, 2NE1, Winner and even iKON in this album which makes my YG fan heart happy, and also wrapping sad af lyrics up in a happy sounding bop is a very YG group thing. I love that the rap unit got Lee Young Hyun in, she's a crazy good vocalist from the group Big Mama (an old group that used to be in a YG sub label) I hope you check them out someday because they reunited in 2021 and have been releasing new music! for context Big Mama members did not have the classic idol looks and so were all backup singers but YG himself took a chance on them and said they should challenge the industry on vocals alone, their contract even stipulated they should not get plastic surgery. they disbanded in 2010 and all 4 members of Big Mama went on to become music professors in Korean universities. Like loving bringing in Young Hyun (from Big Mama an early YG vocal group) and having AKMU's Chanhyuk in some of the writing in this album. I do kinda love that you can hear the legacy of all their sunbaes but also it's still just so Treasure. Like some of their more retro sounding tracks making my old YG stan heart happy.
