After watching your reaction to s3e8 and 9, I went back to check out the respective light novel volumes (10 and 11) and I have to agree with them. A lot of things had been cut out or dumbed down from the light novel. Dix Perdix, for example, wasn't as shallow and one-note in the LN as he was in the anime where he is basically 'evil guy is evil because he is evil and his evil blood makes him do evil things', there is at least some nuance to his character and how he acts and interacts with characters. Granted, he was still evil but he wasn't one-dimensional. They mentioned the fight with Ais, and yeah, Bell got put through the ringer in the LN but even the conversation between them where they have a shouting match while fighting which in itself had parts removed completely or dumbed down. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to watch s4 yet since it wasn't on crunchyroll and I don't really care to subscribe to another streaming service for one anime. But I hope it was adapted better than the others as the volumes it adapts were pretty good. I guess I'll find out soon.
