2023-11-29 15:10:24 +0000 UTCSo the content from this episode was from a .5 novel ( i think 4.5 if my memory serves ) and it is actually really important in setting up characters for the next couple arcs and delving into a BUNCH of characters mindsets/views on others, the only problem is this should all take place after the events of the anime ( technically halfway through what would have been season 2 if they didn't deviate at any opportunity they could find ) so a bunch of things have already happened at this point. Then you have the thing this anime seems to always get wrong, which is replacing characters that were originally supposed to be the ones to do things with horikita instead ( like the speech she gives in this episode or confronting the class c students with the cameras with Ayanokoji to help sudo's case, of which 2 different characters were supposed to do ) , without realizing WHY it was important those characters were the ones to be involved in those situations in the first place, which not only makes those characters not as important as they should be ( hell the anime has less classmates than there should be for some reason ) but turns horikita into a WAY more important character than she really is... at least at this point in the story. Then we also miss out on seeing Ayanokoji's thought process and his inquisitive side that happens in this same volume where he gets his hand stuck in a cup pretending to shoot a hand canon like MEGAMAN after a series of events. You won't really notice the reasons these changes suck until you get to season 2 though where it becomes very obvious how the scenario's should have played out had they been setup and foreshadowed like they should have but that's a discussion for when you get there. GREAT reactions as always, look forward to the next!
