Added 2025-08-07 20:10:05 +0000 UTCUsing the YouTube Studio editor, I removed the first 70 seconds of the video this from YouTube because it I saw in my analytics that not getting straight to the minigames was causing people to leave the video early. This led to a significant improvement in watch time and contributed to the video performing much better than it had been before.
Despite this, I wish I hadn't removed the intro because it was part of the personality of my channel and involved direct interaction with you all, the audience. Now YouTube has made it so you can no longer revert changes made in the Studio Editor and so that intro segment is gone forever on the platform. Therefore, I wanted to give it a place here.
I think in an attempt to optimise videos for the algorithm, you can lose the very things that make a video special. I will no longer prioritise the recommendation algorithms when it comes to how I approach my work. Getting views as a professional YouTuber is important sure, but I am a YouTuber because I make videos. I don't make videos because I am a YouTuber.
