I was so jazzed to see the links to this pop up in my email! I’m in a similar boat as you, in that I’ve been hearing buzz about the book series for years but never got to it, and then I watched the first two eps and enjoyed them. (The Sanctuary Moon bits are AMAZING.) But I haven’t got anybody in my life watching with me, so it was absolutely delightful to be able to watch with you.

There's some changes they've made to the show that are...fine, but take away from some of my favorite elements of the books. I'm still very excited to see how they do the rest of the season, though, and hope to at least see your thoughts on Tumblr! (and yes, even though they made it seem like Gurathin was being an asshole by insisting on "it/its" pronouns, he's actually correct there)
