[VOTE] Video Essay input
Added 2025-03-20 22:20:36 +0000 UTCAs I gather candidates for which essay to produce first, I quickly came to a crossroads: do I talk about a ship or series I've reacted to as a chance to go deeper, or do I talk about a new ship or series that I love but hasn't come up on Gaywatch yet?
There are plenty of outstanding(ly gay) options for series I've reacted to over the years that I'd finally get to discuss, but bringing in a fresh topic I've been dying to talk about yet never had the chance to explore is also a huge draw. It's a win-win for me, but I want to make what you guys want to see, and therein lies the question.
Would you rather...
...hear from me about a ship/series I've reacted to before.
...hear from me about a ship/series I haven't discussed yet.

2025-03-21 14:34:49 +0000 UTCBoth options sound interesting, though maybe start with something you have already reacted to and then go off on any topic that catches your fancy. -Insert the ”Both is good.” meme- :D

2025-03-21 11:54:30 +0000 UTCI remember you have so many thoughts while reading HOB and there are so many things you said you could have a discussion and essay on. (eg. How the story is intricately woven & how all details are planned ahead; how much Lingwen suffered because of her female identity as a god; what should the 3rd person do when the other 2 hungry people are fighting for food) I read MXTX interview online that it generally took her 1-2 years to write a story structure and all the characters, with words between 100k -200k. Most foreshadowing and details are planned in the structure writing and she might make small adjustments when needed. Once the structure is completed, the formal writing is much easier. She travelled around the country to find inspiration while writing the structure. There are so many things that could be discussed. I’d love to hear your thoughts on those topics!

2025-03-21 07:34:33 +0000 UTCIWTV Louis and Lestat! We waited so long for a depiction of these two, and AMC delivered something new and glorious. Of course the changes attracted criticism from purists (& racists) but i think it is remarkable. Scripts, performances, design, production... so much to discuss! It reinvigorated a long dormant obsession for me!

2025-03-21 06:22:46 +0000 UTCI would love to see more of something in line of your brilliant breakdown of the Kinnporche ep4 NC scene.

2025-03-21 01:58:33 +0000 UTCDeeper dive (on something you’ve seen before) for sure. I feel like you will always make time for new content, but in some reaction videos you mention wanting to dig in to something later and I don’t know if I’ve see you do that yet. Also/OR—what are you feeling most passionate about? What will your brain not stop ruminating on? Go with that! We’re here for the ride, babe.💜

2025-03-20 23:40:33 +0000 UTCOne can never run out topics for MXTX essays (wink wink) but really I would be happy to hear about anything; because you have a really interesting and in-depth perspective so anything would be interesting.

2025-03-20 23:22:20 +0000 UTCBoth options have their merits. For essays about things you've reacted to, if your talk is intriguing enough, I'd obviously want to see the reaction as well — to witness what you're talking about and how you reacted when you first saw it. Conversely, if I've already seen the reaction, I'd love to hear your more collected thoughts afterward. This is especially true for the After Dark reactions, where the video just ends after the episode concludes, leaving no room for discussion. For essays about things you haven't reacted to, it's a slight bummer that we miss out on your firsthand reaction since you've already seen it. However, this also opens the door to a wider range of topics — I get the feeling you've watched far more than what you've recorded. For me, it's a great way to discover some solid recommendations. Ultimately, I'd prefer you to choose a topic and select what fits best rather than feeling restricted to one category or the other. But if I had to pick, as a bit of a "completionist" with slight OCD, I'd lean toward essays based on things you've already reacted to — so that's what I voted for.

2025-03-20 22:31:00 +0000 UTCMary and George. King James I famously said of George Villiers, 1st Duke of Buckingham, "I love the Duke of Buckingham more than any other man" and "Christ had his John and I have my George,"

2025-03-20 22:28:28 +0000 UTCI'd love to se both, but I'd slightly prefer them to be about characters and/or ships that you've reacted to, because it'd be interesting to hear your opinion of them once you've had the chance to calm down and properly analyze them

2025-03-20 22:27:48 +0000 UTCOh, definitely! We'll land in both categories in the future, I'm sure. I just wanted to get a read on which one to lead with. <3

2025-03-20 22:25:50 +0000 UTCI would love you to go into Red White and Royal blue. Chemistry. On screen intimacy. Changing of publics perception of gay rom com and onscreen sex scenes.

2025-03-20 22:24:30 +0000 UTCBoth, if you can! I love hearing your expositions <3
