That scene when the Recruiter put the gun in his mouth while maintaining very intense eyecontact with Gihun 🥵 I was like ‘is this allowed!!??’. Amazing how they gave the Recruiter such a fleshed out backstory and showed just how unhinged he truly was underneath the nice suit and calm, polite exterior. He really enjoyed his job of exploiting desperate people. Gihun/Inho (Frontman) is the most popular ship on ao3 right now - the way the amount of fics skyrocketed since the release of S2 is incredible. There are so many good stories out there about this toxic old yaoi ship 😁 Just the way Inho kept staring at Gihun like he was some sort of puzzle he was trying to understand… Especially in the last episode when Gihun was prepared to sacrifice a few people for the greater good. I also noticed the bar in between them in that shot! Good stuff. I think Junho has a bigger role in S3. I hope so at least, because he had not a lot to do this season except running around in circles. I agree with a lot of people that there were so many people to love and root for in this season. Season 3 will be brutal. I’m also really curious about the mid-credits scene with the two dolls. They are on some kind of railroad track it seems, but what game will be played in such a place?

Thanos is yet another example of a character that is sooo hateable, yet is played by someone that is completely the opposite. Like Anghel said, he’s a rapper (T.O.P.) in real life. His deep voice is amazing - i recommend listening and watching the mv of Big Bang’s ‘Fantastic Baby’ in particular for his raps and the visuals he serves in it (https://youtu.be/AAbokV76tkU?si=bA4L5vl1uPKVlmtJ) Other facts: - he got shunned by South Korea a few years ago after smoking weed a few times. All drug use is strictly forbidden there, so he really went through it. He lost all sponsorships etc. He left Big Bang because he did not want them to suffer from the consequences of his mistake. T.O.P. truly took responsibility for what he did, but Squid Game was the first time a director took a chance on him again. - Because of the drug scandal, you can really see that Thanos was some sort of satirical reflection of himself. Also, T.O.P. is like the Robert Pattinson of Squid Game: he thinks Thanos is as much of a loser as we do 🤭 - T.O.P. did not appear in any of the promotional activities before and during the airing of S2, but now he does have some interviews by himself, including one in which he reacts to his character. I hope you find time to react to those, or watch them by yourself! You can tell he’s still a bit shy and hesitant being in the public again, but the support the international fans have given him (and increasingly people from SK as well) is heartwarming. I became a fan of his thanks to, or despite, all this. - To keep things on topic for LGBT+ stuff as well: Big Bang made a few parodies of well known kdramas, including Coffee Prince in which Gong Yoo starred! T.O.P. plays the Gong Yoo character while G-Dragon, the other rapper in the group, is a man who plays a woman disguised as a man, and is the love interest… The video is really priceless (https://youtu.be/mEHRPfJY6ZQ?si=VRpfliSHaiKVNZmK). Another parody is the one about Secret Garden, also secretly kinda gay: (https://youtu.be/-luHRr6ow_A?si=y9e1QZFym6SZrczo). The best thing is the members react to it as well.

I have to say, ever since watching this season for the first time I've developed such an unhealthy obsession with Hyun-Ju that I genuinely don't know how I’ll be able to survive if she dies in s3😭❤️ Like there's so many characters in this season that I've grown attached to, but the love I have for her is just out of this world! She was also such a badass in the final episode!!

So many good moments in this season! I really liked how they changed up the culture of the game with small changes so characters were reacting so differently than the first time, such as cheering each other on. Even just letting them keep the money whenever they did leave changed the dynamic of the games quite a bit. Also kinda destroyed me that Gi-hun this season paralleled Sang-woo from the last season, saying nearly the exact same thing he did about their right to a vote after the first game with a very similar posture and tone. RIP. And fun fact! The guy who plays Thanos, Choi Seung-hyun, is actually a famous Korean rapper who goes by T.O.P and was a member of one of the most influential music groups from Korea, BigBang. He mentioned in a promotional video how hard it was not to cringe while filming because Thanos is so ridiculous and "Legends don't have to call themselves legends". He's been on hiatus for several years now, so it's really cool to have him back doing a public project again!

idk if its an unpopular opinion, but i actually love s2 even more than s1. s2 had a feeling to it that i really enjoyed and felt, and i was more attached to a lot of the characters in this season, not that I didn't love Ali, Saebyeok, and esp Sangwoo in s1, but the characters in THIS season?? I felt like we really got to know and feel for like you mentioned in an episode. and i REALLY love the hopeless feeling this season ends off on. maybe that's weird but i feel like not a lot of shows ever make you feel truly HOPELESS and manage to pull it off & this season did. it feels utterly hopeless & i lowkey love it. for inho... i have 2 theories. one is that he was actually rooting for gihun to be able pull it off, but in the end was left disappointed by gihun's lack of being able to do what he said his goal was to do. the other part of that theory is that he wanted to gihun to see just how truly hopeless people are. i feel like maybe this must've been a tough lesson he learned when he was in the games & now that i've seen the series a few times, there's a line that stands out to me. I think it was in ep 6 Gihun tells Inho "you have no idea the monsters this place creates" & this time as i listened to him say that it struck me--Inho knows better than anyone the monsters that it creates. It created him too, but unlike Gihun, he's leaned into it and isn't fighting it. Inho is someone who decided to play the game on the terms of those in power rather than be a revolutionary, esp since I'm guessing his wife died not long after he won the game. The money didn't help save her or their unborn child. What was the point of any of it. He played the game, he won, and yet he still lost and now look at what it's turned him into. The world is a shitty place and he's just abiding by that rule. Gihun and Inho's relationship is just... so good to me (the "old man yaoi" haha). I think Inho finds Gihun fascinating. It's probably cuz the other winners, well, they won and moved on with their lives (as best they could). at the very least, they definitely didn't decide to go back into the game to try and end it. That's a first! That automatically makes Gihun interesting, esp when you compare to how he was in s1. I also think that's in part too why Inho doesn't want to kill Gihun. Gihun tried, but he fucked up so badly, it'd actually be a mercy to kill him, but it's crueler to make him live with the consequences of his actions, getting his best friend killed along with all these other people who believed in him and his plan... oof yeah that's gonna be rough. Also I really hope you saw the interview of the director talking about the Inho/Gihun ship & how POPULAR it has gotten. He was sooooo excited about it! like a kid in a candy store, he was beaming that people these two. think he even mentioned something about the fics or art. Reminds me of Bryan Fuller with Hannigram ngl. And let's talk about Hyunju... she's amazing. I love the addition of her character and I just can't get over how such a wonderful character like her was written into a KOREAN show that also happens to be the most successful netflix show of all time in the world's current climate?? it genuinely makes me so happy. ofc, im scared for her and all the other characters, but god. standing ovation for s2 of squid game which far exceeded my expectations.

the looks to the camera when inho was staring at gihun are so funny 😭

I have not finished watching your reaction but Thanos being Matthew Lillard in an American ver is actually so real.
